Since I've joined 2 + 2, I've seen threads describing similar situations about 30 times. I will never understand how pros part ways so easily with their money. To most people (including myself) 30 000 dollars is a hefty amount of money. It's a down-payment on a house or condo in many areas of North America...in Florida, it buys the entire house. It shouldn't be treated carelessly.
If a "pro" poker player needs a loan, let's evaluate some possible reasons.:
1-) They are playing over their head and taking risks a true "pro" shouldn't take.
2-) They are living outside their means.
If they treated poker like a business (i.e. like a professional) and made better life decisions, they wouldn't need a loan. Since the lenders are not bankers, they should evaluate every loan request against this persons "gambler credit rating". If they are asking for a loan out of pure laziness (can't be bothered to transfer first or go to the bank or their safe, etc.) then let someone else lend them the money. You might come off as an *******, but at least you will never get burned. If someone has cash, then make them pay in advance before you transfer, especially if this person is a "friend of a friend but totally good for it".
Why do some people think this situation was a loan? It was a swap that one party did not complete their end of the deal. Question: why didn't Booth ship back the money? And what is his sn? Sorry if these have been answered already.
