So, where exactly in my post did I say that I believe chariot racing doesn't require any skill or athletic ability?

They could have it in a big stadium, with everyone playing on laptops then you play down to a big live game in the middle. What could possibly go wrong?

Haha, word. To expand on my analogy above, I'm sure the average person back then was ignorant as hell about it, just like the average person today who thinks that driving in NASCAR doesn't take any skill or athletic ability.

Anybody knocking chariot racing has obviously not seen the movie "Ben Hur." One guy was killed in the filming and they left it in. The bookmakers were standing so close on the side they could have been trampled. You never drove a stagecoach if you think chariot racing isn't most difficult. As one movie critic said, "Loved Ben. Hated Hur."

For credibility purposes, you should stick to urban legends and myths about obscure poker and gambling. You know, things that can't be easily debunked:

He can say what he likes without your hating and fact checking. He's old school.

Poker is not a sport. Sure, it's a game of skill, but it's not a sport. I'd sooner see E-sports in the olympics than poker. You can't decide a gold medal on whether AK beats QQ all in preflop in a random flip.

Me : "I won the Gold in poker at 2016 Olympics."

Everyone else: "But how many did you lose?"

Agree that it shouldn't and will never be in the olympics but it might appear on the newly created World Mind Sports Games along with chess, checkers and others which had its first edition in 2008.
In my opinion the rules should be:
- Only one participant per country
- Some rules to decrease variance like deep stack, run twice on all-ins, 2nd chance.

Poker
Chess
Starcraft 2

Do people consider any of these a sport?

I think it goes SC2>Chess>Poker, with a very good argument for SC2 being a sport, and less for chess and almost none for poker.

Not that I think SC2 will be in the olympics .

They should take all gold medal winners and have either a drinking contest or dodge ball game. The winner is crowned The Champion of Champions.

I was actually thinking about making a troll sockpuppet account to propose poker being introduced at the olympics, to see the reactions, just because it's so obviously a ridiculous idea.

Regardless of what anyone ever says, poker never has been, is not currently, and never will be a sport.

Discussing whether poker is a sport is a sport if poker is a sport.
