I have started to work on a business idea called Poker E-Sports where we intend to create heads-up poker events. Poker E-Sports will host heads-up tournaments with various poker games in single elimination. The intended players of the tournament are mainly mid-stakes pros. The games will be played electronically, and will offer a look and feel similar to Cardrunners or DeucesCracked to the viewer. However, focus will be on entertainment value, rather than education.

The 26th of May I’ll present the idea to a panel of investors and hopefully be able to rise the founding needed. I am interested to hear your thoughts of this idea.
Would you be interested in playing tournaments like this? Would you be interesting in watching live casts and replays of tournaments with commentary? Other thoughts?

What is the motivation for Mid Stake Online Pros to play in these games when there is practically no money to win?

I’m aware that E-Sports have generally lower prize pools than poker tournaments. But, with prizes from both sponsors of the event and subscribers to the cast we aim to be able to get a reasonable prize pool. The intended players for the tournament are players who would enjoy participating in this kind of tournament.

The other way to look at it is that it will not be any fee to participate in the tournament. It will not require too much effort for the players to participate. Finally, since the game will consist of various forms of poker with both different structures and different poker games the participating players will not give away that much of their personal style.
