So what counts as high stakes these days? 25/50 certainly. But what about 10/20?

I feel like 5/10 used to qualify as high stakes, but at some point over the last 10 years inflation has pushed it out into the mid stakes.

My own personal estimate is any game where both the blinds are in double digit dollars+ is considered high stakes. So 10/20+ is HS for me.

I played in a 5/10 PLO game one year at the WSOP. First pot was over $5k, for most of the wage slaves of the world that is high limit.

Only way to settle this debate is to ask a table of 5/10 players what they think.

In my mind, 5T represents the entry level to “high stakes” but certain games like Bellagio and Commerce 5T play more like the top of midstakes. Imo T20 is solidly high stakes because it’s almost always uncapped and 99% of players will never play a single hand at those stakes.

i think 5/10 is solidly in the mid stakes range and so is 10/20 - not to say that you guys aren't right i agree fully that there's a significant physical gap between a 2/5 and 5/10 game - most people aren't going to play for 5k pots on the reg (or ever) but when games exist that play 100x larger, you can't lump them all in the same boat as a 5/10 game that plays several nights a week in western mass of all places

for some perspective, in macau it was often difficult to find games playing smaller than 10/20 (occasionally there'd be a single table with a 2 hour wait at 5/10) and those were 100% considered the low stakes games there - perhaps that biases me too strongly in the wrong direction but i don't think it's reasonable to consider 5/10 or even 10/20 high stakes games when games which run several muliples bigger do exist

otherwise are we really saying 1/2 is low, 2/5 medium, and anything else high stakes?

82ss is a totally standard call from the BB off 30bbs. Doesn't matter that its a $3000 buy-in lmao.

5T definitely not HS. Rule of thumb is when you have daily swings of 5 digits (so 10k+), it is the entry level to HS. Daily swings of 4 digits would be midstakes (5-9k). Etc.

I was going to change my post but got lazy. I agree with you that 5T should be considered midstakes. Imo T20 can be considered high stakes (maybe not in Macau) but there is a distinction of “nose bleeds” for games like 50/100 NL+

I could also get behind calling T20 midstakes, that seems like a reasonable take. I guess in my mind the line is somewhat blurry.

Yeah, 10-20 also considered MS. Of course, when 10-20 has a mandatory straddle then it technically slides it into a HS game (at least for the time being), but, on the other side of the spectrum, look at the 5-T games in LA where certain BIs are capped @ lol 500$, which technically makes it a lowstakes game (and almost a 1-2)... So usually 1-2 and 2-5 are lowstakes, 5-T and 10-20 midstakes. Nosebleeds would be 6 digits+ daily swings.

I don't like the defend preflop, very spewy to me. Not my style to defend a terrible hand like that. Players think they can defend hands like that and just check raise me on flops to make up some hand I know they don't have. Modern poker, defend bad hands and justify it somehow.

I mean to be fair if they are calling with 82, there's not really a hand they "can't have" when they c/r you on the flop, right?

depends on the size of the raise pre, if you’re folding 82s to a min raise you are effectively brain dead

attractive girl with some issues, hasn't done anything other play on a few streams wearing lululemon outfits you'd normally only see at the gym - poker world loses their minds over it

She was at my table in Day 2 of the $3k, Event 16. She was the short stack with 33k and was knocked out within an orbit. She was super pissy but given that she had to come back with 3 bbs, it makes sense. However, a dude at the table told everyone that he played with her Day 1 and that she was in the 1 seat. She lost a hand and when the dealer picked up the cards she slapped them out of his hand and cursed at him. Floor was called and she was given a warning. Just hearsay but the dude told the whole table with seemingly solid details.

The funny part was that Kitty Kuo took her seat. Talk about a contrast in women poker players...

I never played with Bunny, but yes, I can attest that Kitty is definitely an entertaining table presence
Spoiler:
in the sense that she talks a lot/animates the table and is quite funny
