Nice to see people helping. Gave some to PS and some to other places.

CARE has a blog on their site with some reports on the situation on the ground.
salvation army = homophobic religious nuts, but in terms of immediate aid they're okay - unless you're gay.

oh, and to everyone else criticising the 10% operating costs, you're absolutely mad. having worked for non-profits for a few years now, seeing a large organisation with 10% operating costs is quite refreshing.

Thats wat it is. No1 says that Care will runaway with the money(even though 6 figure paychecks for his Top Dog's is just mind blowing)

But whoever that may think that CARE or other organisation gets to those countrys and are the one's running the show, are iether very naive or stupid.

Bureaucratic establishments, government officials, municipal officials etc etc ... they all want their piece. How sad it may be, this is the only shot they got to set themself in such scale. And why not doing it, when every1 else is doint it.
Sadly this are the ppl running the whole show.
At one point organisations are just playing a side role, how frustrating it may be, they know that's the way it is.

Also, goverments often finds another goal to spend part of the money, that happend in Haiti,2004 tsunamy country's and even Japan were government increase the whaling program budget by almost 600 percentwith with charity founds .There are many examples and all this is well documented.

People's brains go from the television to the telephone with their credit card. You'd think they'd take time out to do a little research to learn where all the money is going but no, it's better to just feel good about yourself.

The money for Haiti got spent there eventually, just not in the matter if days, weeks or even months that people had wanted. In The Phillipines it probably won't be much different.

Sorry for the bump.

Late regged 2-7 NL SD for fun/hope but got nowhere - I played 3 (doubt I'll play any more) and mincashed in one. I think I owe between 50 and 60c, but have done the $5 donation tourney anyway.

Gl all those people.

Will Full Tilt also double any donations I make? I no longer have a pokerstars account but would like to do it via Full Tilt if they run it under the same terms.

They will.

(You can't unregister on FT for those who random click these kind of things)

To the people saying "I don't donate unless i do it personally" or "50% of donations go towards corruption" should, IMO be careful of what they say. Fine your PERSONAL beliefs may be that the charity system is corrupt but you shouldn't post these things because you will almost certainly reduce the amount that is donated to this or future causes by scaring people into thinking like you do.

I personally will be donating (once i reload my PS account!) with a buy in of my normal stakes. And thank you very much to poker stars who are doubling the donations they receive. So if anything wants to donate it seems logical to do it via stars. Just my two cents

Nothing could be easier. Simply transfer money (on either PokerStars or Full Tilt) to the "Typhoon Fund" account and that's identical to registering for one of the dummy tournaments. Details are here.

Before transferring, please confirm that the account to which you're transferring is in Douglas (on PokerStars) or Isle of Man (on Full Tilt). And thank you for anything you contribute - PokerStars/Full Tilt will match it.

Regardless of whether this is the charity that u believe in or not... please give something to someone in need this Holiday Season. A lot of us are fortunate to do very well at a game that is best described as a hard way to make an easy living. So if you're successful try to help others.

For this charity even if you think that too much gets taken by operation costs or even corruption.... the fact is your donation gets doubled by Stars so a lot of your money will be going to the cause.
