Phil ivey is arguably considered the best poker player in the world... how far behind is daniel?

Who is better post flop? doesn't Daniel have superior reading abilities compared to ivey?

daniel doesn't have self control. tilts a lot and becomes a calling station (I dont blame him he ran terrible on HSP)

he has the brightest personality in poker though

I'm pretty sure ivey's reading abilities are just as good if not better? Just because Ivey doesn't yap is his mouth when he is folding a good hand doesn't mean Ivey isn't aware of what's going on in the hand?

ah no...then are not even on the same level

i have not played with either of them..but daniel is a loser when he plays 5/10+ online and phil is one of the biggest winners at the highest stakes. obv online poker is daniel thing but its not exactly phils either

Daniel is pretty much a part time poker player, he rarely plays the big cash games and tends to stick to a tournament schedule only.

Ivey plays and beats any game going day in day out and as high as he can.

Thats the difference.

He's not even close. DN is a good tournament player but he is also very streaky and does become a calling station at times. He also can't lay a hand down even when he knows he's beat far too often.

You just think daniel has superior reading abilities because he blabbers on and on about it during hands (and often doesn't follow his reads and ends up making bad plays), whereas phil just quietly owns people's souls. Example A:

We don't even know if Daniel is a winning player in the games he plays in. I'm not saying he isn't as I certainly have no knowledge but with all the money he makes from the poker world outside from actually playing cards he could lose quite a bit of money and still be doing just fine financially.

I read Phil Ivey saying he was happy winning money in the big cash games but realised his legacy would be his WSOP bracelet wins

He decided to try hard in 2009 to concentrate on tournaments and forget about the action hr was missing out on in the side games

Ends up with 2 bracelets and a 7th in ME

Daniel does well in tournaments with tons and tons of fish - the big difference is Phil Ivey crushes very good players, while DN crushes donks. Anyone can crush live tournies against ******s - it doesn't take any natural skill to do so, but to play the best in the world heads up and beat them over the long run takes something that cannot be learned or taught. PI > DN all day
