IMO,A petition pushing an online poker bill would do more then one for repealing UIGEA.
Agreed, I did sign however and in the comments section I wrote that we need Online Poker legal and regulated. The petition is good, but probably should have been more about passing a law regulating online poker rather than appealing it. Either way, I doubt there is any harm in signing and possible good about getting the basic message out.

It should be mentioned in the petition that the UIGEA was passed with deception onto an anti-terrorism bill which was completely unrelated. I am quite sure if a section legalizing drugs or banning abortion was attached to the end of the bill it would be repealed.

The only way to get them to be pro-poker is if they think there is enough money out there to warrant it. If enough people are shouting that they want it and that it will bring in large revenues then there is a chance.

Even then it;s a long shot. Look at all the places that try to get legalized gambling in the form of casinos. They talk about all the money coming into the economy, the construction and gaming jobs, the tourists, the tax rates going up, and the blue hairs shoot half of them down. Poker tournaments on TV not withstanding, there is still a real stigma against gambling in this country, especially among older people and they vote.
