Isildur is great for bringing action and that's what people enjoy. I think pokerstars needs to sign a bunch of people like him who bring action to the tables at all stakes, so it's not boring. I'm saying it would be encouraging for people to play more often if they see constant action at whatever stake they choose to play. that's what I loved about online poker when I first started. Seeing a couple 20k tables running an like twenty 5knl tables worked as a inspiring and motivating factor for me to play loads. now i hardly see midstakes running.

Who is to say that Blom actually wants this? I think a lot of assumptions are being made on Blom's behalf with most people here having no idea what they're doing.

In a past life I was a sponsored athlete. Not like a pro athlete, more like a "hometown heroes" type of arrangement with one of the largest car companies in the world. It was fun and added a lot of "color" to my life. But it was also stressful, time-consuming and there's added pressure when someone is paying you cash and expenses & flying you all over the place. I ran the New York Marathon on someone else's connections to get me into the race and on their money - that's not always a "fun" thing. Or try crashing out your bike in the middle of a triathlon while wearing one of the world's most recognized logos on your back.

So now take a poker sponsorship, except now you're taking your money to play in events the someone else picks for you. I can assure you that not as fun as some of you would imagine. Maybe Blom doesn't want this, I wouldn't blame him.

I wasnt as happy with teh games im playing in for a v long time. Games for me atm are v v good. I dont know if u can credit that entirely to ronaldo and neymar but it seems at least to have a huge impact. Alot of giant whales in my games are registered with brazil...

If Stars has money to spare it should be spent on player acquisition and retention at low/midstakes, not on propping up high stakes games that barely anyone plays.
Blom seems like a nice guy, and it's fun to rail him, but he's not Ronaldo or Neymar. The trend in poker marketing is away from high stakes degens/ballers and towards mass-market social gaming, which is why Blom and Gus were dropped in the first place.

I think its pretty obvs that he is open to, and want sponsorship opportunities, given he is sporadic working with Unibet lately, and also adapting to social gaming trough twitch with them.

My favourite was the superstar showdowns where he was beating live poker players / mtt players (money) back into the online cash economy. Just because people wanted to test themselves against him + gain personal media exposure by playing him.

And if Stars want to retain their existing player base they should be spending the sponsorship money on better communication with players and enforcing game integrity by closing down the bot rings and banning the multiaccounting scum.

Above all players need a safe, reputable place to play. Somewhere that looks out for their customers best interests and charges a reasonable fee for providing that service.

Attracting fish is not everything. A grinder friendly site like PokerStars needs to inspire grinders to the lure of winning (and losing!) millions and Isildur is a a legend. While it may not be as attractive as signing a sport/movie star, it is several times better than signing a nit pro with a 1000 BI bankroll.

Viktor is worth the money and he deserves it. the value of this sponsorship is not limited to attracting new players.

We can hold the same reasoning with 97%+ of the poker pros in pokerstars stable. Isildur is more deserving of a sponsorship than all of them. Here is the reason why:

Viktor is making a strong case the last week on how much action, interest and publicity he makes when playing noosebleeds.

I like you, Viktor is truly something else in poker.. For better or for worse. Doesn't matter what anyone else says, the guy will always be a legend.

Was awesome seeing Sauce talk about how Viktor changed the entire NLHU landscape, and changed how things are done in PLO as well.

Gets sad watching him as you know if he wins a session it is odds on he will be back within the hour to dump it back. Could be one of best ever if sort out his tilt and playing too long .

+1 Isildur1 is the most entertaining player to follow by far.

Playing for obscene amounts of money attracts recreational players to keep playing and depositing. There's rarely games running at 50/100 let alone 200/400 consistently for days on end.

I've not played poker or deposited in probably 6 months or longer, today I deposited after railing some of the matches between isildur and doorbread. It's good for poker and it isn't even close
