Even if you don't think this new situation is any better, it's difficult to see how it can be much worse.
As has already been said through this thread, if this is deemed a "problem" there are many alternate ways to change it that doesn't have the large downside that no one knows what is going on, and that there is some opaque grading system that changes' a player's experience each time they play.
And really, i don't even see how this will resolve the issue; if i understand correctly, it means a table gets hidden when its got a certain threshold of new players. So for a new player, it may mean 4 regs instead of 5. That's not really going to change how quickly he loses his money nor how much banter he gets in chat.
