Pay no attention to the blabber heads. I've noticed the bigger games don't run as much as they used to

I dont know world events too well but everybody I know here is having money problems and I get the feeling that all of the US is starting to struggle financially. I would guess that is definitely hurting the games.

Poker is dying in general. It is sad.

I had a freind who is a fish (makes like 40K a year) and he dropped 10K 2 years ago online.

Now he buys in 25$ each month to play 2$ husngs.

The fish are busted/learned a lesson/dont trouble with the hassle of getting $$$ online.

Sucks

There are fish, just a huge % less than years past

The sharks are waiting for the Full Tilt pros but they never show up.

There seem to be plenty of Euro donks and maniacs to play against at small stakes. Def. not many US fisheries at the moment.

a lot of really basic points are getting missed here.

great; ivey, degenyamine, antonius, durrr, elezra, and a handful of other names we all know from seeing them around the high stakes tables for an eternity and a half are still playing.

that != healthy high stakes games. a dozen multi millionaires passing around the same dollar isnt a good high stakes environment.

i dont even see that much of the "high stakes" CR crew these days.

so honestly i think the case can be made that high stakes games are basically terrible right now.

When high stakes NL was in its peak there was usually a big donator that the games revolved around like Matusow when he won a few big tournies. If some donk wins a ton in the WSOP and is willing to play NLHE on FTP I can guarantee you there will be tons of people playing so long as the donator is there.

bahhh, the games are still good, just not as many of them. people play so badly still, its just a different kind of bad, and if you dont adjust, you'll get left behind and will breakeven for months all while posting pics of your ev graphs. there are a ton of mediocre players still having huge months so i just dont buy that poker is dead or close to dying.

yes its not as good as it was 3 years ago, but that was just stupid easy and its no shock the games didnt stay that easy for long just like any other industry that is super profitable.

Yeah, it seems like more people are having million dollar months than last summer, its hard to think the games are dead. Of course most of those people have been able to make the transition to Omaha, so maybe there's something to be said for that.....

10 games total going at prime time across the planet, not accounting for the tables where half the stacks are short, is pretty dead dude. your ability to outplay those who do play is uncorrelated imho.

similar to any product cycle, an initial boom is followed by a period of consolidation.
its not dying, simply finding a level of sustainance
