I am going to go against the flow and say that I strongly dislike Olivier's commentary.

Liked his commentary, thought the third level analysis was more than Joe Plumber would grasp. Had a lol moment when Norman Chad asked him "So how many WSOP final tables did YOU make this year?"

Funny to think this is the guy who would tilt so hard in the chat box. I guess hu sng's tilt everyone if you play them enough. Cost me 2 laptops from tilt breaking screens.

That was a brutal burn, lol. Actually he asked if Busquait ever final tabled a WSOP. "Oh, you haven't made any? Well let ME get back in that seat"

Olivier is the best commentator that has ever existed in the world of poker. He should be on the ESPN A team of commentators, hands down.

I would easily rather listen to a 1man team of olivier commentating than lon & chad anyday! those two numbskulls LITERALLY no nothing about poker at all, when you compare their knowldeg to busquet's.

Big Up's livb

Wait a minute....is Busquets the guy who said that 3handed is boring & Einhorn was a skilled player because he knew about ICM during the one drop?

if so, I really dont get this appreciation thread.

+1

Lon was again kind of awkward. As said many times before, the live format doesnt really suit him, he doesnt seem relaxed. And Norman obv doesnt add anything to live stream. Olivier was great once again, great analysis of situations and betting paterns and he seems very much at ease doing commentary. Some spot on reads, "seems like he would do this with something like 99 or aq"... dude shows 99. lol. And its obv not just that he seems to get it right every time but he provides just the right amount of info as to why he thinks what he thinks.

Seems like an awesome guy and have alot of respect for his game and him as a person.

Lon and Norm have more poker game than they let on, i think. And as far as duo's go i think they make a pretty good team.

Would LOVE to see more of LivB in the commentary booth, especially over Tuckman. [seems like a nice guy but can't stand his commentating ]

I really hope that when poker gets legalized and returns to TV he continues to do some commentary (although he'll obv have financial incentive to be playing full time again).

Right?

OB is just alright, It seems he was better this year than last year, I don't need him telling me a player either has the nuts or air, and he uses the term "show down value" way to much. He needs a lot of work to do commentary full time.

fwiw I think Olivier's commentary was better last year.. and also I'm not sure commentating solely on strategy is the way to go.. the casual player would be bored by this, for poker to continue to be profitable and healthy we need people to tune in and laugh and have fun while watching... that won't happen if all they hear = commentators talking about hand ranges, table dynamics, hand combos and distributions and so on...

I mean, Phil Galfond has done some commentary as well, he's obv in most aspects a better player than Olivier as most would agree, so do we want Phil Galfond to start breaking down every hand and how he would play them like his bluefire training videos?? That would be absolutely horrible for the game overall even if some of us would enjoy it..

lol

a commentator on a tv show that runs a handful of times per year is going to have such a minute effect on your ev that it's not worth being concerned over it.

have you polled the casual player to see what they like? do you even have a rough idea of the demographic watching poker on tv?
