I virtually never post, but these successive tweets compelled me to create a thread.

From Phil Hellmuth's Twitter yesterday:

"Just folded A-K pre-flop vs John Duthie!! Blinds 100-200, he 600, I 3,200, he insta 7,300, I bad feeling and fold! He says great laydown."

"Bad laydown!! Bad reads 2day! JDuthie had 10h-9h when I mucked A-K pre-flop!"

Did he really fold AK preflop here? Anyone know something I don't which would explain this? Maybe Duthie was UTG or something? Why would you make a huge 3 bet with AK and then fold when someone doubles it?

I don't know who this John Duthie guy is but folding AK to a raise/insta 4-bet seems fairly standard if blinds are small and both have decent money behind.

I hate PH and think he sucks as much as anyone but this play is nothing crazy, especially considering some of the ridiculously bad laydowns I've seen him make on TV in the past.

He is the guy who setup the EPT. He was on my table for 4hrs+ at the UKIPT in manchester and well he was spazzing off his chips left right and centre. He always took the same line on flops when he made 1p/2p/flush etc was suprisingly easy to read. he aint a pro he just got rich from creating the ept.
