Why don't they invite more foreigners to their private games?
There's a few reasons but mostly because it's their private game. That means invitation only. You wouldn't just turn up at Larry Flynt's house to play in his homegame without an invitation, right?
These guys are savvy businessmen, they don't want to just donate their money to some nitty pro who's going to leave Macau shortly and never return the action. It's the same as your homegames, you wouldn't invite someone who's far better than you and would take your money with no remorse.

But for a chance to play against the world's best players on your homeground with a few of your friends, it'd be well worth the risk of losing. That's why they're happy to get into these games against Ivey and Dwan.

macau isn't a tourist spot. pretty much any asian there is there to gamble, any white dude over 40 is there to bang young chinese girls, and any white dude under 40 is there to win money off the asian gamblers.

there is a subculture of young euros, americans, and aussies that move to macau to exploit the 'anything goes' gambling culture over there. no white dude is randomly there on holiday. so they don't let white people into the biggest games.

pretty much any time i've ever heard of a white dude being let into the game they cleaned up, it doesn't happen very often though and they're never really allowed back.

Well if it's being held in a casino that has a poker room it's not really a true private game imo. Thats why I asked.

Sounds like the game started off as open and the reg's got the casino to allow them to make it closed.

Thanks for the explanation though.

SO is supposed to show an argument, i can see none. If you have real infos why are white dudes not allowed, let us know

Well, that's kind of true. However, if all the regulars refuse to play and leave the table when someone they don't like (didn't invite) sits in, then it might as well be a true "private game". So the casino hosts/managers always vet the regulars, "is it ok if this guy sits in with you?" and it becomes a de facto private game.

There's some exclusion of foreigners but it's not so much racism as excluding outsiders. After all, these guys are Chinese speakers and Chinese people. Even if they speak great English, it's only understandable that they want to spend their recreation time with other Chinese people who speak Chinese. None of them wants to deal with having to translate the table talk/jokes for the foreigner every hand "ho ma lan chat fan". But on occasion they'll invite good players to join them, if the guy is known and will provide good action or entertainment.

pretty sure my meaning was implicit. but since you are a bit slow, the reason white dudes are not allowed into the games is because there is no subtlety or illusion to the fact that they are there to prey on the players in the big games. whales don't usually care about losing money, but they do care about being preyed on or disrespected.

like maybe you don't understand, we are talking about tables of ten grumpy looking 60 year old chinese men shrouded in smoke, probably all of them worth 8 figures plus, none of them having a clue, none of them caring about the money. no english is ever spoken, not even close. it's pretty common to see people learning the rules while they are playing for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

and then some random 25 year old german shows up, who doesn't speak chinese, and who clearly knows what he is doing. is it really that hard to figure out why white people aren't allowed in the games? even westerners whos parents were both asian aren't really allowed in.

So what if some 60yo succesful australian businessman wanted to play. Would he be allowed in? Or turned away because of his background?
