Nick Rainey posted this on his blog on rainmanpoker.net today which I think is a good step in closing this whole charity debacle. Hopefully we can all move past all the negativity that surrounds him and at minimum respect his grinding skills.

While some may question his personality and general way of conducting his life, it is his life, and he can choose to do what he pleases. He is at times "off his rocker" but I don't think anyone should judge him if you havent met him and/or just slander him when he cannot defend himself.

We can all learn from his work ethic and poker savvy and should move on from beating him down.

I have to apologize for any misunderstanding with the donation to the Oakland’s Children Hospital. I was under the impression since it was effectively my money being donated, and I would be raising funds other ways, and making my own donations that I didn’t have to keep official records and make a paper trail.

I now have a detailed spreadsheet with all the transactions below from the 2+2 thread. An official donation will be made for $6075.89 (the amount of the stakes returned to me), so there can be no doubt in anyone’s mind that the charity got their money. I will be making the donation early next week and will forward confirmation to a few people at 2+2.

I have learned many valuable lessons from this. Not only has it cost me the $2500 I spent staking people but the damage to my reputation through the result of one vindictive person’s actions is long lasting.

I want everyone to know that my intentions were nothing less than honorable during this staking venture. Over a few month period many people were given the opportunity to play in a large Sunday MTT that they might not ordinarly get to experience without my stake. Thanks to a great final table run we were able to raise over $6000.

I would like to thank everyone who played and the many who contributed above and beyond. A special thanks goes to silviodante1 who donated a few entries each week. I have posted $500 with a friend to be donated to the charity or organization of your choice.

People that know me can testify that I have given, and will continue to give a lot to charity. Smart poker players know that a -ev staking deal like 50/50 with no makeup is not the way to make a profit in hopes of pocketing it yourself.

This will be my last mention of this matter and would appreciate for you to move forward as well.

Very weak response imo. I'm not sure what he's trying to say other than because he staked people he doesn't need to donate when he said he would? Not trying to be a hater but he should be able to do better than that.

I would hope that when he makes the donation and proves to those who are calling him out on it they would post that the issue has been resolved so we can all move beyond this.

This situation didn't go as many of us would have liked but if the end result is a reasonably sized donation to charity then I think we can all forgive all involved parties...

Seems like a good start, for someone with an ego that huge and who has obviously tried fighting to the bitter end, this is a big step.
