So? I don't see a problem here.. They handle gaming, they know what to do. Let them host it, license it and regulate it. Done.

a monopoly would be if Nevada wanted to license, control and operate ALL of the online casino's....since it seems they just want to regulate/license that wouldn't be a monopoly IMO, unless your talking about a Monopoly of licensing and favoring Nevada based entities... which doesn't make any sense......based on the hearings thus far in Nevada they just want to be the center of online gambling licensing.

If we're lucky, at least a year or two after regulation. But definitely not right after it's legalized.

maybe, maybe not. The site with the lowest rake will be able to attract a lot of players, and I imagine a few people would open sites with lower rake immediately after legislation passes

you could say that about any product. but you also have to consider demand and the possibility of higher regulation costs for the sites. once it becomes regulated, it'll be at least a year after players have played online. players will play regardless of rake is 5%, 10%, or 15%, as long as there are enough regs that'll make profit despite the rake and the fish remain ignorant about rake.

imo industry standard will be above 5%, until more competition flows in and it gradually dwindles down 5% after a year minimum.

if it's an international pool, then only can i imagine the sites matching 5% to get international business. an international player pool is absolutely crucial to player interest, i hope congress doesn't f it up for us.

There will be a new online poker tax...
Hard to imagine it being < 5%...
And it will become a "hidden" part of the rake...
Just like gas, booze, cigarette taxes...
You can bet your Sweet Bippy on this.
