Maybe.
I mean, many years ago - I did work on a baccarat count/system. Not going into all the details as to why - but I was able to play as a 'whale' because of who I knew/was with.
Well... yes it's beatable... but the spread of your bets is stupid. It needs to be far wider than BJ - far wider. Obs it didn't matter, as the casino aren't looking [worrying] about big changes in amounts on baccarat. It was just a bit too silly - and meant [with table limits] your unit was very low. I could get away with it as I was a kid... and could give any reason to jump big... especially as the casino was happy to have the person I was with betting there.
So, it's never seemed scammy per se that anyone could have an edge in baccarat. It's just tiny... and more or less useless.
BUT more than that, if you play big - then you only need to lose a tiny amount to be up. For instance if you could break even, and you are deemed worth enough to the venue - then you will be making money. I can't remember the exact details as it was long ago - but it was something like x% of losses you would get back. So, if you win - you keep all the profits... if you lose then you get a % back.
Doubt this happens too much now? Maybe it does? But the venues used to fight to land the big players.
I obs never got any of that edge... but I can image Mikki could... so him being able to play a +EV game of Baccarat - doesn't seem unbelievable to me.
well... I mean, that someone could.
When I see him play poker - I feel it less likely that Mikki is a someone who can. But I know it's possible.
Anyway - as I said, I always want to fun players to win. Never understood this obsession here with the closed off, math pros - and wanting them to take down everything. They are awful for the game. And anyone backing them has killed games. And obs all their backed tourney wins make a mockery of who's done well. As I doubt most the players who have x millions of winnings officially are even millionaires. And many not even in profit from poker. Ho hum.
