Ive been warning people about dan and hsi dealers and house players for 8yrs. He ran a club called the midway club and i was a dealer for another home game so home games support each other by going to each others game. Their was one game i went to at his club where i caught 2 of his dealers setting up decks and house players...ones danny put in....wiping the table out. I know one of the dealers use to be a cop but i cant remember his name but danny is also partially responsible for antwon walker going broke because of what danny and his dealers were doing. Its about time **** hit the fan on this guy

My bad, I thought it said he had a bunch of kids with 3 women and they all lived in his house. That's not to say this guy doesn't have a few women locked in his basement, tho.

I can confirm Dan has a long history of get rich schemes. He always has partners and he always leaves them high and dry. There is always money to be made and he’s really good at selling the life and marketing. I’ve known many of the underground games he hosted. He does A+. He treats you well because he takes the back end so well. He spends money to make money and he’s always flush until he isn’t. Once he owes, he lets it fall on someone else’s head. He moves on to the next hustle. He dreams big. He undoubtedly thought he can run a legit tourney and then grow it into a regional money maker. He’s a former dealer and current player. He’s banned from Caesers properties. He does well on mspt because it’s the only event that hasn’t blacklisted him. Ive played on poker bro’s during the pandemic but I knew I was getting rake killed. I think we can all be detectives and see that his poker bros money got frozen so he moved to the next thing. He cuts corners at every chance. On Chad’s podcast it stated the charity got $600.... they were a front, nothing more. And on this occasion, if he wasn’t in cohorts with the silver dealer, he guy hustled by the hustler. Let him say what he wants about wanting to create the poker tourney designed for and by players, this was a cash grab for him.

I cashed this tournament and have not been paid the difference in the silver value, nor have my emails been acknowledged.

I do not believe the silver purchase story at all.

There was no chatter whatsoever all of saturday about the Attorney General showing up. There's no evidence the attorney general showed up. I don't believe anybody showed up from the AG.

More damning is where is the originally planned payout material? If the initial plan was to recycle metals for payment to each player, there would be a sizable amount of metal (1st place money at least) in possession previous to the silver purchase. This material doesn't seem to have ever existed nor does any metal dealer make a statement "yes I was planning to facilitate the payments but the AG stopped me."

I suspect Dan got a good deal on silver this spring for money laundering and then got the idea to unload it onto the players instead of dealing with the legitimate market. Why no gold? It would make the physical management so much easier.

That makes the most sense, he got a crazy big deal on the lot while money laundering, maybe 20$ an ounce, and found this would be the best way to dump it at a premium and pockets the 50k or whatever difference it was

Pretty sure over a certain amount sold or bought you need to send info to govt (atleast in Canada)

Pokernews contacted the silver dealer though and he said they just filled last minute order on 200k in silver and had to collect it from other dealers to fill the order.

Forgive me if I don't trust Chad, the only person who's spoken positively about Dan throughout this debacle.

He's also the only person I've seen besides Dan who claims the AG was there.

Of course that silver dealer is telling that story. Probably the guy Dan got the silver from, I don't doubt that. What I doubt is WHEN and WHAT PRICE

I have nothing positive to say about Dan and don't recall ever saying so. On the contrary, I've publicly said his not being on-site when things transpired was unacceptable, unforgivable, and cowardly. A lot of other stuff has come to light in recent days that I think speak to his character, or lack thereof.

And the good news is you don't have to trust me as everything I've reported has been done through some simple investigating, which anyone can undertake and verify. I have no vested interest one way or the other (obviously I want to see players made whole and any malicious conduct punished), just trying to report the story.

Yes, you certainly have reported the “story”.

You published the alibi and gave it credibility.

Did you see any evidence from the silver seller that he purchased metals during the time claimed and published by you?

“ Essentially here’s what organizers hoped to do in order to comply with the law – have a limited amount of gold on hand to award as a prize. Have someone nearby to buy-back that gold for the same amount as the tournament payout, and then reuse the gold for the next player to cash out. Rinse and repeat. It seemed to be a loophole that would allow them to hold a sizable tournament.“

Did you see this gold? Why did you publish this? This is you speaking for the organizers, not reporting what they claim.

I did not see any gold or precious metals until Sunday when I was allowed in the secured room by the charity to verify silver was actually on the premise. I published that because that was their initial payout plan, which I was able to verify with multiple sources. The idea of paying out in precious metals was apparently submitted to charity gaming authorities in advance, though I'm still waiting on those documents and verification from the AG office.

“Information laundering” or publishing info through a credible channel straight from an unreliable source without verification is not a good look for a reporter.

Sounds to me like no matter the news, you'll consider it fake news. All I can say is everything I said and published I'm comfortable with knowing I researched and verified w/ multiple, what I deem to be credible, sources.

I encourage you to look into things yourself to verify or answer any lingering questions you have. Most of the parties involved (tour, charity, silver seller, etc.) in this fiasco is public, including contact info for the AG's office, so there's nothing holding you back.

All that said, could there be more to the story? Of course, it's far from over. I'm still looking into different things and this story will no doubt continue to play out as players are (or are not) made whole. Unfortunately, I have not been able to verify certain things yet (still waiting to hear back from various parties), as such I will not publish. If that's not a good look for me as a reporter, so be it.

The biggest evidence that someone from the AG's office stopped by is the pic in this tweet.

It seems to have been deleted from the Facebook post, but if you want to contact Terence Shiel, you can use that info if you can figure out the phone number or email.

So they submitted the plan to buy precious metals in advance to the authorities, but then they just neglected to buy actual precious metals to use until 1am on the day that the tournament concluded?

Complete incompetence.
