No idea. When I logged into my mlife and it offers the standard 3 free nights I usually get it also had all the other nights heavily discounted. Booked a few months ago.

Even the resort fee was discounted

Jacob's video pretty alarming.

Employees not seeing tokes, not seeing 401k balances, not seeing PTO hours, not seeing schedules... all kinds of crazy stuff

MGM is looking to hire someone to completely rebuild their IT environment from the ground up. Paying $100/hr. 10hrs/day for 7+ days.

Whoever is making decisions at MGM is maliciously incompetent because I doubt they are going to find many qualified candidates willing to take this job. It’s basically a meme worthy job post. This is not the way to prevent future incidents.

They want to hire contractors to do it in a month. LESS THAN A MONTH. Maliciously incompetent isn't cutting it. They have no intent to retain in house talent after this. They must not have anyone competent working tech at all. Sure sounds like business and product run the show.

Excluding green card and H1b probably removes most people who would be willing to do a contracting gig it for that money.

That is amazing, also the demographic of “willing to work immediately” has to be an insanely bad talent pool

Not necessarily, but both money and location are an issue.

I could have someone work for you on a software development project on Monday. But not in person and not for $100/hour because that's roughly what we have to pay our subcontractor for one of his junior full stack engineers. They're looking for a Red Hat certified sysadmin available immediately in person.

And then there's the citizenship requirement. I know someone who runs an IT staffing business. Their employees are almost exclusively on H1b visa.

LOL...just shows how clueless MGM are. This is what happens what you have some white suit with no knowledge running the show

Reports are saying MGM has spent $80 million so far dealing with this hack. You think they'd be able to pay more to get a new IT system up and running.

Also, that job posting reads like something some startup/new company would post. It doesn't read like a professional job posting at all.

"Higher pay for those willing to stick it out until the job is done!"

Just screams unprofessional and desperate to me.

100% desperate/near sighted. If they want this done right, try starting at $500 at hour.

I think greed and incompetence are the main factors. Although, the level of incompetence is so unimaginably high that it really makes you wonder if there’s more to the story.

Doesn't El Diesel have a background in IT. They can pay him 14 an hour plus all the sardines he can eat. Match made in heaven.

Is it a good look that they can afford not pay the ransom because they make so much money off their punters and have such a pool of cash to cover this?

This is like the equivalent of those minimum wage postings wanting you to basically run a restaurant and when they can't find anybody they make a FB post saying no one wants to work.

I guess not surprising to see how out of touch they are with the tech market.

But yeah whoever green lit this posting should be fired.

I agree that the wording is very amateurish but I don’t understand the issue. IT guys charge more than $100/hour these days? Since when? Or are people saying it’s not enough just because of the scope of the project and how much MGM should have to spend on top notch security?

I’m guessing the issue that these guys want to have the Yankees for the price of a AAA team, right? Not that $100/hour is necessarily bad pay, just not for this project, right?

$100/hr for contract work is awful. They're also asking the person to be on site, work 7 days a week, and 10 hours a day. If they included a suite and food, they might get some reasonable candidates from lower paying areas. Basically all competent engineers make more than $100 an hour, certainly any that can fix this. The listing is so bad it's like a prank.

Managing to not only confirm your security is crap, but also that it will likely remain like that for the foreseeable future. Good job!
