Matt Marafioti and Samer Rahman allegedly conspire to hack other poker players - Page 28 - Poker News

I can't post much about it since its been years.
I only ended up here due to this story hitting pokernews.

I'm gonna "out myself" like a douche and the things going on back then was douche, hands down. I'm sorry about them, the ppl I hurt. Time has passed since, I was just a kid with a, back then, addiction to a game I couldnt afford.
I got banned from here after running several scams, in the Swapping $ thread for instance - mods can contact me and verify me usernames, id rather not out them here(just checked, the last one was banned in 07). (I moved since, so ip should be different, but same computer, so if mods can look at my mac-adress instead - they should be able to verify)

Back then Samer contacted me, and was straightforward from the get go - not all the hessitation as the convo with Matt shows. He was very pushy on me getting to others computer, but got angry over the fact that I only was able to get to ppl who were NL.50-NL200 players(this actually turned out not to be "big enough" for him and leaving the "arrangement" - this shows how big fish he was already wheeling in back then)
He was pushing keyloggers in all sort of ways, it wasnt only the screenthing - there were several other ways he could use them. We made a deal that if I got them on computers, he would do the work and give me % of the profit. I remember not many of them.. YanniYankievich was one of them though, if someone know him(not in the game anymore, so dont even know if he plays anymore) they can ask him how it went down back then. Eventually I stopped hearing from him, probably because it stopped being big enough $ and I couldnt get to many computers irl.

Wether or not the OP is real I'm not judging, but meh... There were no mentions of HA/Bandidos/mafia or noone of those things back then, it was purely geekstuff.

EDIT: Why I mention the scams/ because I'm 100% sure he contacted me due to the fact he saw me being banned on here.

This post also shows that Matt could have profited from this scam without ever cheating at the tables. He could infect some high stakes players computers and then receive a percentage from Samer's profits.

We all get pretty heated at our opponents sometimes. I deal with scumbags and *******s all the time. Pretty much on a daily basis for HU. I've called them plenty of bad words and Ive thought before man I'd kick this dudes ass if he was standing next to me right now. But you know what has never crossed my mind while being furious at my poker opponents? To put a ****ing trojan on their computer and hack/cheat/steal from them. Absurd.

I am going with he is actually running a personality disorder line of thought here. Something to the effect of, "I only used it to confirm my already superior poker skills".

So if you are playing someone and you "put them on this range" then you look at the cards "confirming the range you determined" but because you didn't look first to determine the range it is your skill in play not cheating.

Also @ pissychips, The quote wasn't completely literal although it reflects a lot of my beliefs. Minus the "F That" it's a very famous quote in American history made by Patrick Henry during the American Revolution.

I don't blame the swedes living in fear one bit for any of their actions or lack of action (other than cheating). Definitely respect whatever they feel they have to do to protect themselves. Obtaining 3rd party help outside of law enforcement wasn't too hard because some people I know have a serious passion for motorcycles. Obviously the situation in Sweden is much different & more volatile in general.

I would likely call the police here in the U.S. if threatened for my life but it'd still be a judgement call and that's likely attributed to the culture I grew up in. Overspending on defense in the U.S. is a big reason why we're having Economic problems but it also comes with its' benefits. If I didn't feel I could get any sort of help at all and would be left completely vulnerable to these thugs I'd probably move (I realize not an option for everyone).

And holllly **** did Samer ever pick the wrong guy for the job lol.

You feel like being more of an *******? I'm not the only one who didn't get that from the post.

He said : "Especially since I could litteraly see peoples whole cards."

He could well be saying : "I could (have) literally seen them (if I had decided to hack the computers)"

It's not as if the guy is an english major.

In fact, it makes more sense because he says : "it was never something I'd do, but something I'd consider..."
So "ffs" calm down.

EDIT : And not many people would go through the trouble of installing a trojan to see hole cards and not exploit it. Once you've put the trojan, you have crossed the line. I'm not saying he didn't cheat, just that I don't think he admitted it.

Pretty sick that stars experts approved of a scamming after analyses. Claiming no wrong doing had been done. I had one session against a guy called vedi96 I swear could see my hole cards. And he'd been a gradual loser for years and the 2 weeks leading up to our match had won 15k or something. I might want to get it re looked into. Anyway, sick thread.
