Apologies if threads have been made already.

Chip Counts for Day 1A

1. Eric Cloutier - 150 750
2. Redmond Lee - 134 275

Firstly,
"It turns out the chip leader from Day 1A [Eric Cloutier] has been verified to have 15,075 chips, NOT 150,750 as has been reported by us. We apologize for this unfortunate error. We take full responsibility."

The second one hasn't been confirmed officially, but I am pretty sure myself. When I saw that someone called Redmond Lee was one of the chipleaders I just thought that someone with a silly North American forename, 'Redmond', was the chip leader. Then they posted his picture and said he was a 23 year old from London. I am pretty sure no Englishman has ever been christened 'Redmond'. So I checked his hendon mob page out, and surprise surprise, Redmond Lee is none other than:

Lee Redmond!

Compare photos here, same guy.

Way to go poker reporters/chip counters!

It depends on how the player's name is written on the bags, because there's plenty of names reversed on chip counts.

Most of the instances with Lee's name have now been corrected on PokerNews.

Yeah, obviously a simple mistake to make, but it makes me laugh that Lee Redmond has his 5 minutes of fame as Day 1A chipleader, tells his friends back home to check the internet and firstly someone has found an extra 0 for eric Cloutier and secondly they have his name backwards.

I'm one of the reporters at PN and coincidentally a friend, I can assure you his name is Redmond Lee, he's a 10/20 player from London.

There was an email sent from WSOP staff that stated that Cloutier's stack was much smaller than originally reported.

THese numbers come from the WSOP itself and are processed by PokerNews. It's not PokerNews self who counts alll the chips/reads all the bags. So point your foinger to the right person please, PokerNews comes nowhere near the bags with all the chipcounts on them.
