jesus christ you can't read a sentence about this guy without hearing about his one drop charity. He is not and wont be the last poker player to donate money to charity so why is everyone ****ting themselves over him?

What the hell else can they write about Guy? Not like he has a list of poker accomplishments to fill up the space. His charity is a good thing, if you don't want to hear about it maybe stop reading stuff on him?

At least it shows some goodwill from a billionaire poker player. He's always very good-natured and seems a credit to the poker shows I've seen him on. Are we missing Antonio's constant comments about America and loving poker? Do we need more Hellmuth rants? Why take a shot at the good guy? Just my opinion.

OP are you ******ed? Are you really upset about a guy trying to push a charity? It's alot better than hearing hellmuth push his new energy drink.

In all seriousness there's alot of ****ty players and businessmen out there who make alot of money and waste it on all sorts of crap, I have no problem with one who actually gives back.

What's the big deal? Guy's building wells and trying to educate people in third world countries about water sustainability. If you're not interested just don't go to onedrop.org

did I ever berate guy? I just said im tired of hearing about his ****..you started up a charity congrats; quit bringing it to every poker table you play then start a rant from the whole table and commentators on how much they should donate, where every bet goes, if they can write it off lol

invid, did you know that nearly a quarter of humanity currently does not have access to drinking water and that half the planet’s population does not have water purification? Together, these factors are responsible for the deaths of several million people each year.

i'm fairly certain he's the only one to donate 100 million to charity, at least according to his wiki

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Lalibert%C3%A9

Quote:
The operating costs of ONE DROP will be covered by a $100 million contribution from Guy Laliberté over 25 years

so hes worth a billion but will donate 4 million/year for the next 25 years..considering his interest is more than that and all the write offs he gets; he is probably making money off this. not saying hes a bad person, im sure he is saving a lot of lives etc but quit bringing it up in every poker game you play ****

I believe it was the other players who brought up whether or not they could write it off. I also believe it was Viffer who 1st asked what the charity was. I could be wrong though

I loved it on PAD when Guy said you have to be able to play without any fear. Considering his bankroll, he's playing micro stakes, lets see him play 1 million/2 million NL without fear.

Earth's surface consists of 70% water. Water is available almost everywhere if proper methods are used to get it. Sources where water may be obtained include:

* groundsources (eg aquifers, aquitards, ...)
* water from the sky (also called stormwater; which includes rain, hail, snow, fog, ...
* surface water (eg streams/rivers)
* other sources as plants, animals, ...

As a country’s economy becomes stronger (as its GNP per capita or PPP rise) a larger percentage of its people tend to have access to drinking water and sanitation. Access to drinking water is measured by the number of people who have a reasonable means of getting an adequate amount of water that is safe for drinking, washing, and essential household activities.

I love the fact the Guy is donating money to charity do not get me wrong.... I just hope his charity is actually helping the issue, instead of just wasting money....The statement in bold above is the only way to eventually eliminate the problem of the availability of drinking water

Like less than 1% of the earths awesome 70% surface water is drinkable, the rest will kill you.

Just FYI

there are also aload of buisness men/rich people that dont give a penny to charity so why post a thread about someone who IS giving 4mill a year to charity which is helping to save lives.

OP you make no sense and seem jealous imo

OH and btw why not find a millionaire/billionaire or w/e that doesnt give a penny to charity and then make a thread about them?

wrong, that is sustainable water which is actually like 0.75%, we still have the capability to desalinate the rest of the water on earth, it is just costly and not necessary to put into mass production yet, once desalination plants become abundant the cost will go down

We are not running out of water.... the issue is getting the drinkable water to the poorer countries
