Thanks. It took some trial and error. A lot of it was copying and pasting pieces of the Wynn lettering. I copied "Wynn" to a new layer, and I would rotate it until I got pieces in the shape I needed to make a new letter or part of a letter. The last "n" and period are of course directly from "Wynn". The "e" was sort of free handed using the main letter color then copying the edges from other letters to make it look natural. The "y" was used almost as is from "Wynn" except the loop had to change to connect to the "e". The "u" is just an upside down "n" (which ends up looking about the same anyway). The "g" was a slightly modified "y" from "Wynn". The "N" was the hardest just to figure out how it should look, and I still think it could be better. After a couple of failed attempts, I freehanded how I thought it should look and copied pieces of other letters onto it once I got the main shape.

Of course the pieces of all the letters don't fit perfectly neatly together, so I used the color picker, pencil and a lot of Gaussian blend to smooth out the colors. I use a free program called Paint.net. I'm not sure what Photoshop calls its blends and other tools.

Not sure if that's what you're looking for. Feel free to PM me. I'm glad to share whatever I can because I can learn even more from you guys.

I was thinking I might have been bordering on a ban with that one, but I thought I'd try it. I didn't think about getting a great thread locked (but I should have!). That's about as far as I'm going to go with that theme, although I have a lot of other good stills of Lizzy making various other interesting faces. Maybe I'll have to do one more!

thanks a lot for that. i have cut and pasted a lot for pictures, but i would have never thought about doing it for lettering. it turned out great. i will have to give that some practice. thanks again.

Super Cool! You definetly have to update the thread and let us know what month your article will be published in! You will probably get a few thousand sales just because of it.

Wouldn't you need better resolution images to actually print them in a magazine? I don't think Jpegs will do.

But I'll send you my Doyle "NBA Hall Of Fame" pic.

Thanks for spreading the good word

Anyone who values their digital art, should never save their work as JPGs, IMO.

PNG > JPG

Amen to that. Would be so much nicer if all web images were PNG,... but JPG was a necessary evil back in '97 when I had a 56k connection.
