If Russia invades Ukraine, would sanctions stop a Russian's access to online poker? If Russia invades Ukraine, would sanctions stop a Russian's access to online poker?

Yes you did.
You said sanctions were only intended to hurt the government, not the people.

But the purpose of most sanctions is definitely to hurt the people. They are intended to make life so miserable for the people that they demand change from the government.

No. Sanctions imposed ON govt. If a poker site sanctioned an individual directly that is different. I'm well aware of what sanctions are and how applied. I was in the USMC for 6 yrs and through conflict before/after sanctions levied.

I'm talking about a private entity directly punishing someone for their heritage. I don't believe that is a good thing. Nitwit Swalwell is suggesting all Russian students be sent back home. Dominic Hasek wants all Russian players suspended from the NHL.

If they're here, ship them out. If they're in Russia and want asylum, take them in.

Pulling games from Sochi is not the same as freezing 1K of an individual's funds.

It also appear that there may have been confusion with the CS rep. Player accounts, at least atm, are not locked.

@rickroll

I'm for sanctions and the economic ones they finally decided to use will likely have a strong impact. Sucks citizens will feel the hit mostly. Seems Putin will take all the money in the banking system and leave people high and dry.

Hopefully someone high in the chain of command will help him fall off a roof or something.

To be fair, seems like the CS rep might have been wrong. Both players have access to their accounts. Waiting confirmation they can play.

CS rep being totally wrong makes sense and normal. Chico has been very straight up since they brought in the new people a year or so ago.

Dictators are not immortal. They breathe oxygen and have arteries like everyone else.
