It might not even solely be for unopened pots but rather
any pot. Action folds to you? Third in line of a limpfest? Facing a cold 3-bet? The system will just fold 82o (or example) no matter what. If a hand is not in the assigned range, then all relevant decisions remain open, and the system does not offer any other guidance.
I suppose an immediate upside is that will largely speed things up, especially for players who have the maximum number of tables open.
Offhand, the one downside is that there might be some players who consult some chart they got from some instructional site, assign themselves a tighter range than they should, meaning they're auto-folding some hands you otherwise want them to have. And even then, that would also likely result in their folding hands they profitably could play.
