Hoyt Corkins won the Southern WPT yesterday with his 6th final table showing at WPT events and his second title...

I honestly think he one of the most under-rated players out there - what do other people think?

reminds me of that 200/400 PLO ratholer who jumped in the 500/1k HORSE game, lot a ton and said they all suck because they won't come and play "real" poker with him

who said he is 'under-rated', and where does this 'rating' come from... i think most people actually have high regards for Hoyt's poker skills and game.

I was at the final table watching a friend and hoyt did not play well. The guy was scared to play a single hand postflop and ran rediculously well to win the tournament.

Is Hoyt Corkins scared of anything. I heard he has just started open shoving like 60bbs in 10ks.

i almost died laughing when i saw this thread title. i suppose if you said hoyt was in the bottom 10% of poker playing ability when compared with a group of mentally impaired people, household pets, jellyfish, and a few inanimate objects, that MIGHT be under-rating him. but even then probably not.

This. All Corkins does is shove ridiculous amounts preflop because he doesn't want to play after it. Over a decent but not huge sample size doing this, some people run ice cold, some run hotter than God. Corkins fits the latter.

Maybe we should all shove pre-flop then since he seems to have made a lot of money doing it - you people that think he is just a luck-bag shover don't have a clue...I don't post much on 2plus2 and will go back to just reading from now on...

I've never heard a bad word uttered by a decent poker player about Hoyt. I don't think he was underrated.

i enjoyed watching him own phil helmuth that one time. other than that i don't know anything about him. i like his gunslinger style though, i think he should be known as the brett favre of poker.
