Bally's was OK. Stayed there this year. Was shocked my room had no phone or water. Maybe Horseshoe will up the quality.
Though I hear water across the street at Bellagio is $24 a bottle from the mini-bar.

It was great to be able to go directly to the room on break in a short amount of time. The elevators were directly next to the poker area. With that convenience, many well-known faces were in my elevator over the week.
Can confirm it was $24 for a bottle of Fiji

However be smart just go over the road to CVS

Would like to see these 3 $1500 events on the schedule:

$1500 Pot Limit Big O -- People love this game, yet there is not a single Big O in WSOP history, aside from it being 1/3 of the $1500 Mixed Omaha event. Sorely needed, and will get a great turnout.

$1500 Short Deck -- So many would love to give short deck a go in the WSOP, but most don't want to pay $10k to play against the top pros at it. Why not provide a $1500 option?

$1500 Limit Holdem Shootout -- Don't laugh. This was on the schedule for years, got a good turnout (just as good as the $1500 Limit Holdem full ring event), and was over quickly each day, since it only took about 5 hours for all the tables to be finished. People really liked this event, and it was great for Caesars because it didn't suck up a lot of resources (it was 3 short days, and done). Bring it BACK!!

I would play all three of these if they existed.

No phone? Interesting as I never had a hotel room with no phone

As to no water, I have been seeing more of that recently in casino hotels but often it is just poor room servicing. That is the cleaning staff is new, not good, don’t really care and don’t properly restock the rooms.

Example stayed in a CET prop few days ago, more up the food chain than Ballys LV, also did not have bottled water. Also only had three pods of coffee, 2 decaf and 1 French roast, iow no regular coffee. This hotel normally has 8 pods, 2 decaf 4 reg 2 French, so I am pretty sure the coffee water bar simply wasn’t restocked properly. This room was in fact a suite.

Though maybe more are dropping it to Dave costs. Maybe it is not staff but is a supply issue. But still not a big deal to pick up a couple bottles on the floor.

Stayed at Paris, there were no free water bottles, no coffee maker/pods, no pens/paper pad next to phone or in desk. But I figure all those things got 86’d due to COVID. I’m not complaining btw, the Paris rooms were great, sooooo much better than Rio, that goes without saying of course.

Past have stayed at RIO over the years (since 2006) and once at MGM.

Bally's this year for 3 full weeks ( my longest trip ever)

Even in 2021 the RIO room was thread bare but clean and they were huge.

Bally's Housekeeping was EXCELLENT and far superior to the RIO
Bally's standard King "suite" Room itself is adequate but nothing special.
Neither had Coffee machines in their basic rooms - buy your own or upgrade your room. I find the OP comment that said there was no phones a head scratcher.

Bally's staff Valet etc were professional and prompt. Again Top notch Housekeeping people.

Bally's gaming area was fine Paris was much nicer --- RIO was a dive by comparison for at least the last 5 - 10 years.

Bally's decision to shut down their Sports Book and to shut down parts of their Casino during the WSOP left me scratching my head at the loss in revenue they chose instead of delaying the renovation work until a slower time of year.

Food options - Thank heavens for Paris. I would take the RIO Hash house, All American grill, and and Guy Fiero over the crap they have at Bally's. Exception the Horseshoe Steak house while pricey is very good and at Paris Mon Ami Gabi French restaurant was "reasonable" and tasty.

Side note - some people like Bobby's Burgers but I thought it was more than worth the 5 minute walk to Wahlburgers - cheaper and better.

Tournament rooms and area ........... PITA to go back and forth from Paris to Bally's room switches during an event were irksome. Bathrooms were definitely better on the Paris side but I didn't notice an offensive odor at Bally's as has been mentioned. Rooms themselves comparatively I am neutral on ( I was there after the initial AC issues at Bally's) . Event staffing overall was better than 2021 and pretty akin to the 2019 WSOP in my opinion. Dealers pretty much the same status - back to 2018 2019 level of competency. Some idiots and some darn good dealers. Overall you always get quality dealers at ARIA and Venetian events ............ WSOP is by nature hit and miss.

Stayed 50 nights at Ballys/Paris. Best thing that ever happened to WSOP. Zero complaints about the venue (other than being trampled), hopefully they can only go up from here too.

There was nothing when I first arrived. It was late. No water, no coffee pods, nothing. And no phone to ask what was going on. It was my first time in town, not the warmest welcome. I bought a $5 water in the lobby. Found CVS the next day.

Only complaint I have is they were charging $7 for a banana (0.25 or less cost).

What are they going to call the big 2023 opening event? "The Homecoming" maybe?

Or maybe they should move the Million$ Bounty to the opening weekend, so that it's not right at the start of the Main Event.

Anyone think there is any chance at all that they will move the Main Event up, closer to the middle of the series?

I actually hope not. The ME is the WSOP, everything else is secondary. It needs to be the focus. With Poker Go coverage, this is even more important, I did not care at all about the high rollers they covered. Yeah, I watched most, but didn't give a ****, but that was because that is all on offer. I may be in a minority with this, but I want to see lower buy-in and way before the final table of five in any tournament. This year, they only covered one day of the Day 1s, that was a huge dealbreaker for me. EPT and Kings Casino still have coverage I like, but I will pay Poker Go for ME. I cancelled the day the ME was over for this year. Next year, I will time my subscription better so I only pay for one month. The stuff they offer year round doesn't interest me at all.

Will be the 20th anniversary of Moneymaker's win, so maybe something like "The Moneymaker" with a small entry fee and prizes related to his win.

It was $2.5M for first that year. A guaranteed $2.5M prize pool would be $500 x 5000 entries (excluding rake), which would be very easy to hit.

Actually, they could guarantee $2.5M for first and still have a big prize pool left over if they got 10k+ entries, which is very doable.

I agree with the pot limit Big O stuff, we need an event. Rumor at the table was that next year it will have $3,000 PL Big O. Every not Big O hand in the $1,500 mix, everyone just wanted to play Big O. If we don’t have an event next year, I will be very sad.

Just came here to post this. They have to run a $500 Moneymaker for the 20th anniversary.

The Moneymaker event might be one of the best ideas I’ve ever read on here.

Might also be fun to have a reunion of that final table with everyone’s stacks as they were to see if he could win it again. It would be a free roll to those players were maybe they get say 5% of the payouts back then? Someone could satellite into the Vahedi stack and anyone else unable or willing to make it.

Can't believe they didn't go with Moneymaker earlier, love the idea.

What is first to happen in the Main Event:

1. Buy in bump to $15-20k

2. An extra Day 1

3. Re-entry

NO Re-entry. Never in the ME. There should never be re-entrys in any tournament, but please not the ME. They should have as many Day 1s as they need. I can see possibly raising buy-in for inflation, but it is really high enough as it is. There are too many high rollers as it is. Or maybe I should say not enough lower buy-ins. Agree the Moneymaker idea is genius.

On July 25, 2022, the Two Plus Two poster "DogFace" made the above post. It was post # 40 of this thread. If an event named "The Moneymaker" is ever made, it was DogFace's idea.

DogFace should get a free buy-in for The Moneymaker. If he can't be there, give him the cash equivalent of the buy-in. Plus a souvenir signed by Chris.

Great Idea . Money Maker was a milestone in progress of poker

Opening events tend to bring 15000 to 20000 players . 2.5 Million prize pool is very easy .

2.5 Million 1st prize guarantee is very much achievable!!!

Entries, probably not that many unique individuals, but with unlimited re-entries it’s doable.
