Just got to that episode, so gross watching Galfond hand Chan heaps on like 3 hands, and then Rolex donates $250K on a stone cold bluff for no reason when Chan's hand is almost literally face up.

Chan sitting there with his Styrofoam cup of coffee, newspaper, making sure he gets his $1.20 an hour in food comps limp raising AA over and over.

Laak does punish him by folding 77 on AQ7JA, Johnny obviously has a bigger boat

The one thing no one has mentioned .. and something lots of Players don't consider when in the tank. They never think about what their opponent is putting them on.

Does Koon have AA, JJ or even AK the way he played the hand? Nope .. so he can be put on exactly what he had for amount of chips in the middle. Would he ship it with all those hands he talked about? Sure he would, when he can confidently put Jason on exactly QQ or worse.

Koon acts like he's not playing his own money with the Tx full house fold and then donks off a bunch of pride chips. I can't tell you how many times I made an incorrect hero fold and then also got beat by the same guy 'the next time around' so to speak. It just seems poker works that way a lot.

Maniacs are that way for a reason .. so they can show up with the goods in the huge pots. GL

The Hellmuth/Polk hand was great.

That hand was pure gold. Hellmuth manages to win the absolute minimum in a stone cold deck scenario. Amazing fold though.

Bord was a complete dick to Andress there imo. Completely out of order.
Ivey couldn't get out of there quick enough. He's added absolutely nothing to this season. He was never much for table talk, but used to make up for that by playing like an absolute boss.
Can't understand why Dwan is only buying in for 100k. Seems strange for him again not to be covering the table, especially considering how he's been doing in the previous sessions too.

There can be strategic reasons to not covering the table, in a tough game in particular. I generally buy in for max in a capped buy-in game, but I might not in two circumstances:
1. The fish are all short-stacked.
2. I'm OOP to the players who would be covering me (especially relevant if they're tough players).

I haven't watched his position closely, but I wouldn't be surprised if either of those criteria influenced his decision to not buy in deep.

What’s up guys, Doug Polk here. Now over to the flop and we have a crystal clear call here, I mean, I know it’s Phil Helmuth, but in these kinds of spots when you’re at the top of your range you just gotta call. He could have so many hands here that are behind in equity, and you’re holding the second nuts.
And I know it’s tempting to make live reads, but if your opponent knows you’re folding here he’s just going to start over betting you profitably with any two cards.
If you want to learn more about why never to fold the second nuts, head over to Upswing Poker.

I would guess Doug has played a decent amount with Phil and knows exactly his range in these spots. I watched Phil on a few of the other cash shows on PokerGo that aired recently and he is unbelievably tight.

It reminds me of watching someone play poker 10 years ago when you just needed to be solid and could be extremely value-heavy and not care because everyone called you off anyway. He still gets to play in cash games for huge money where this works so why would he change his style but he a massive whale in this game.

I would guess he knows that and plays to keep up his high-profile poker superstar image to get invited to all the games that make it worthwhile.

Phil Ivey doesn't play a single hand and looks miserable... what was the point in him even being there? Would HSP offer him $$ just for an appearance? Unlikely. Just strange. Also, loved how Bord complained about how difficult the table was.

I am pretty sure the same thing happened in another session where he left pretty quickly. My guess is the same as yours that it has something to do with an appearance fee. It could be he just didn't fancy the lineup as there weren't exactly any mega whales in it splashing around.

It is also a table with a lot of spots at it that if you aren't feeling the best could grate and annoy you very quickly.

Maybe he has a problem with chronic migraines or something like that

Bord looked like he was about to cry after that beat and I don't mean figuratively - you can actually see his eyes start to moisten and glisten.
