The thing is, irrespective of whether or not his house has cost an inordinate amount it is still proof of quite how much money is made by some of the top level live poker pro's.

Oppenheim has been around forever in the high limit games, I guess this thread has brought to light some of his frustration issues while playing but generally you dont hear stories about him losing 2 million playing baccarrat or some other sick degenerate losses gambling on sports. He seems like a pretty normal guy going about his business in a very professional manner and obviously making a lot of money doing it.

I looked at David Benyamines house and thought it was nice but couldnt help but think if he wasnt such a degenerate gambler how nice a place he could have. I saw Barry G's place and thought much the same thing with regard to his sports betting.

Eli's and Mike Sextons houses are both obviously beautiful but paid for not by poker alone.

Of course in secret DO could be the sickest degenerate of them all but from seeing this, it seems like he has the best house he probably could have given the life he has lead. This guy/house definately gives me the most inspiration for being a top level poker pro.

He comes from a tribe of bug-eyed, jug-eared Ashkenazim that have a very distinct aesthetic. They also have very high IQ's but bad tempers.

If I remember correctly David O. played Chau Giang heads up all night after the big game broke up. He lost close to 750K playing Chau so the guy must have a decent bankroll to play for those ridiculous amounts.

He was on PAD during golf week.

I know he plays high stakes cash, and is not really a tourny player (his results are fairly poor, and I'm guessing he doesn't play very many of them). I BELIEVE he has a stud backround, and I know he plays in the Larry Flynt game. Like someone mentioned earlier, I've also heard him described as the "Godfather" of high stakes poker a few times. As in, alot of the money goes through him.

David does I think have a stud background. He has fought with others (I witnessed one with Juanda one night) but he has ever been gracious with me. Always a kind word, seemingly geniune fellow. I don't know him well but like him just fine.

Dont get me wrong, if I could freaky friday switch shoes with a card player it would be D Oppenheim:
1) He plays all the highest stakes limit mixed games
2) He is the biggest winner in those games
3) He obviously makes the best pure-poker living of anyone alive next to Ivey

The guy is still an *******.

Also, I remember seeing interviews with him before, where he admitted being abusive to dealers and losing his temper, but Ive never heard him sound so effeminate before.

for some reason I AM NOt impressed w/ the house at all.
I mean I see the entry, the daughter, and the bathroom as nice.

Its new, thats about it.
The location is ??? IDK where the eff calabssas is; sounds like some farmland btwn bakersfeild and L.A
Backyard is awful; nice view, but no room at all. cramped pool, etc...

Overall it is nice, I'd def like to live there, sharing a room w/ his daughter, but no way is this super balla. From the rooms I saw (assuming those are the nicest) I would say the house is prolly 4,200 square feet, and prolly $2.2mill tops.

I looked it up and he bought the house for $2,425,000 in 2005. He has a mortgage or $1,818,000. The home is 7,329SF and is on a 38,903SF lot. The home is 6 bed 7 bath. I would assume the after he said it took 15 months to remodel the home it is worth around $3.5-$5Million

Calabasas is a very rich city 20min west of Los Angeles, 101fwy west. the city really started to grow in popularity @20yrs ago when Beverly Hills ran out out of space to build more high end homes.

Most homes are on 3/4acre or larger lots. Its the halfway point between Malibu

Calabasas is probably the nicest and richest western suburb of LA.
The houses are large and mostly in gated communities and the milfs are plentiful.
A friend's dad bought two houses of that size in the early 90s and prob didn't pay more than a million for each. He sold them during the housing boom for 4 and 4.5 respectively. Nice 6mil profit imo.
