We found the Nordiques quite affordable and a good deal as far as acquiring championship hardware. If Guy is thinking about buying a Canadian hockey team, it is probably a good idea. Sure we miss the Rockies, who seem to have done well enough since they were stolen. Even though the recent results of our team have suffered (maybe they miss the snowy north), they would have been a bargain at twice the price.

Where is Guy planning on moving the team? Vegas? Maybe you could get a 2-fer with Love and a hockey match. Regardless, I say go for it and good luck.

An interested Coloradan.

ok lets talk business, ROI for owners could be more as far as revenue goes since their last good team was captained by Daryl Sittler...

I don't read the news either, but it doesn't matter HOW profitable any business is, almost every business has a selling point.

Yeah, he is going to move the team from a city with a huge season ticket waiting list to a city where they wouldn't be able to give away tickets.

agreed, Las vegas would never support an NHL team...an original six franchise will never be relocated...

This, 99% of businesses are for sale if the right price is payed. With the owner vehemently denying the sale almost makes you lean towards the fact that it is. Now...Would Guy be a good owner? That seems like the biggest question here to me.

There's been talk about Gillett selling the team for a year now. He got hit hard by the credit crisis last year and he also sold (or wants to sell?) his Liverpool FC.

The Habs are also worth lke 100M more than what he paid for.. and it's the Centennial year to boot.

I know from the UK point of view there is a lot of speculation about it, because Liverpool is seen as a larger market to explore.

I thought that the whole concept of a French Canadian moving a national treasure to the city of sin was obvious as a level. Of course it doesn't make any sense.

That line was actually a dig at Love.

Humor failboat, I guess. Back to the strat forums for me.

Love how this thread turned into a Leaf bashing thread.

Don't know if the Habs will be sold but it would be pretty cool if Guy bought them. Except it wouldn't be so cool for the high stakes players looking for a fish.

Unfortunatly he hasnt sold his 50% stake in Liverpool F.C yet , but come the summer they (Tom Hicks 50%) hopefully will be on they're bikes out of Anfield.

pretty sure some of the professional sports have rules about not having teams in vegas because the gambling issues/possible corruption. imo if guy did buy the habs he should keep them in montreal. as long as he never ever listens to bettman he will do fine. a man with guys money could bring the team another cup.

If Guy is interested in buying the Montreal Canadiens he should talk to Milan Lucic, because apparently he owns them.

this thread outperforms
