Gus is great for bridge, whenever he plays mainstream media and poker media follow him. I hope he does start playing more. I liked his answer that good poker players would not necessarily make good bridge players since bridge requires more work ethic and study lol.

For some reason I don't think degens with a problem are able to invest millions into a software for Bridge.

Dude seems to be doing pretty well and isn't even secretive about his online losses.

are you kidding ? dude minimize his losses by saying ''little losses'' and speak like its no big deal when losing 17M is actually a big deal for everyone even rich people.

he's not a member of a royal family or the son of some top 10 company CEO. he's just a danish guy.

Let's not go overboard here. People don't "invest millions" unless an idea already has a ton of traction, or a ton of sales. I would guess he didn't even invest 6 figures, the upside is small and he said he is just a silent partner so I wouldn't guess he had a huge stake. Probably more like the guys spent lots of money building a prototype then ran out of money and went to Gus.

Denmark is a small country populationwise, and the Danish bridge community is smaller. I'm sure Gus just wanted to help his friends for a small amount, and their idea is good, albeit limited upside.

That said I totally agree he is not a degen. A degen is someone who lives out of their means in order to support their habit. Is Guy a degen? Dude lost tons gambling, but it would be like someone with a 10k networth losing 100 bucks gambling. Ok Gus is probably someone who lost more than that %age wise but his life still seems to be awesome and he has plenty of money. Tough to say he is a degen.

yeah because he was sponsored for free all those years on FTP (maybe even % of it). Also 11M in live tournament winnings. confirmed broke.

iirc, he didn t show up for a 10k or 25k live mtt he was registered in because he played backgammon with some russian billionaire.

he probably has more money than most of the top poker players, but it's just speculation.

I'm not pulling the "millions" from thin air.

http://www.highstakesdb.com/5439-gus...-software.aspx

Highstakesdb sourced it from a Danish business website..

You just made a lot of assumptions in regards to the business deal.

And exactly, his life still seems to be awesome and he doesn't seem to be scratching for money either.

Just to clear something up as I've seen the millions part mentioned a lot. The millions he invested are in terms of the Danish currency kroner. 1 krone equals $0.16. According to business.dk he invested 'a few million kroner'. So it's not necessarily millions in terms of dollars. Personally, I don't know how much he invested.

This.
He said he had one small winning day, one small losing day, a big winning day and a big losing day resulting in a small loss.
He is talking about a couple days of play, not a whole year, or a whole 5 years online at FT.

Wonder who he plays Bridge with, never played it but hear a lot of good things about it.

He speaks completely normal danish. Very typical "Copenhagen" dialect. Edit: Not "inner Copenhagen" dialect, it sounds a lot like he was born and raised in the suburbs

He also spends a lot of time in Copenhagen. Its not like he is never in Denmark or speaking with other danes when abroad
