Hopefully the payout process will be smooth and speedy for everybody.

And ya obviously this ^....

Agree the DoJ is not the bad guy here they could have taken a different approach and stiffed the players outright. Of course Obama will use this as a talking point for re-election calling this a 150 million stimulus package.

Hey Jeff,

Hearing reports that FTP has been sold to GBT for 80mill. Is it true?

Yes, but this is between GBT and DOJ.

Ok, so FTP's assets went to DOJ and GBT bought from DOJ?

That is how it will work, correct. The assets have not yet gone to DOJ.

Ok, so FTP have forfeited assets to DOJ to sell to GBT. Now GBT will purchase from DOJ for the reported 80mill and work things out with them?

DoJ knows there will be a lot of people who won't "want" their money back simply because they have to apply to the DoJ to get it. Smart move.

At any rate, congratulations to ROW as well as U.S. who do get their funds back. The story wasn't supposed to break until tomorrow, but seems real enough.
I doubt they give an eff about u. They're probably looking at ways to strong arm the poker sites left in the usa for a quick payday.

so pretty much

DOJ doesnt trust Bitar/Ferguson/Rafe/Howard to do this deal themselves. Everything runs through the DOJ.

pretty much DOJ is controlling this whole thing.

Even though this seems like good news, I'm not getting that excited as a ROW player. Seems like we are at the mercy of GBT now. Hopefully payment details with be disclosed soon and put me at ease.

FTP vote? It's all going to the DOJ, and then to GBT.

without tapie, our money is worth somewhere between 2c-20c

with tapie investing, you're going to undoubtedly MUCH more than 20c, although likely lower than what US players will get.

what's to exactly hate?

this is pretty much the best case scenario.

Is it a sure thing that FTP has "accurate" records or even kept them on what players have coming, because that seems be be the only way DOJ can find out what people have coming? I thinks its likely that they(FTP) do, but does anybody" in the know" who posts on 2+2, have any definite info on this?

Everyone worried about taxes:

1. The only taxable income is winnings that exceeded loses, so if you have an account that doesn't mean you owe "the man" anything necessarily.

2. If you kept up with your taxes up until Black Friday, then you're fine. You don't owe again until April next year. And BTW, you owe on WINNINGS not withdrawals. If you didn't withdrawal the winnings, you still owe. If the IRS has not contacted you about it (unlikely) you will clear the whole thing up with minimal fines added to what you really owe (I know, I went through it last year after not filing for YEARS). If they have contacted you, uh oh. They like it when you come clean on your own.

3. Tax is extortion on the threat of kidnapping (prison). Nonetheless I pay like a coward and I suggest you do too unless you like little cells and crappy food...not to mention possible butt-lovin'.

4. The DOJ is unlikely to open prosecutions against a TON of players who didn't pay up on their taxes all along, as it would be more expensiove than what they are owed in most cases. The most likely scenario is one where you either get the money back and then later deal with the wrath of the IRS, or they give the money back AFTER checking with the IRS that you're squared up until next April (tax season).

5. I'm super-glad I got caught up days before Black Friday on my taxes...so what I owe on is for this year and not overdue in the least. You CAN pay quarterly, but my accountant says it's not necessary as long as you pay by the deadline in April (if I'm wrong here tell me so I can fire my accountant ).

Hope that eases some paranoia..now drink up! (or smoke up, whatever; say no to crack though.)
So I guess the two new bits of info:

A. Price is 80 mirrions.
B. FTP ships assets to DOJ. GBT buys assets from DOJ.

I previously said that anything over 20m was never gonna happen and I also previously said that GBT didn't have any real loot to make the deal happen.

I hereby eat my words.

Good luck to all at PK and all with loot stuck on Tilt.

[As I said above I still think ROW players are going to be burned.... but I guess I don't know ****]
Ya I see it now--TAPIE-"ok all you ROW players that had money on FT please piss off and leave me alone I do not have your money and will give you nothing you are screwed-sorry for that but will you please stay playing here? I will show you how to deposit money!"

yep thats how it is going to work-LOL

It makes no logical sense for you row players not to get your money. Why go to all the trouble to then not pay out row players? They're investing this money to run a poker site not pay off americans and then piss off the only ppl who can play on their site.

Or at least, when do you think FTP might reopen?

There is still work to do. Players will still have a lot of questions, and we will keep working on getting answers. I appreciate this signed agreement does not answer all questions, but it is a very, very critical step in completing the sale and getting players paid back.

What do you mean by "much more"? We should get exactly 100% of all our value. This includes BR + limbo money + FT points value + Iron Man medals value + Mid Year Bonus + something else that I might be missing. If they decide to not pay in full, a lot of people would simply take their money and go play somewhere else.
