I agree, but don't you think it would be better if people didn't have to take a day off at all unless they reached the significant money stage?

I don't and here is why...

Lets assume you have the standard 9-5 player, and assume you have minimum a 1-3 hour commute to NJ.

If the tourney started at 11a est, they could leave there houses around 7-10 in the morning. They request just 1 day off, and its noted in advance they have the day off. If they play for 3-4 hours and bust or late reg closes and they bust, they can be home the same day around 4-7pm. If they make a super deep run and win the tourney if they now ended approx 12am, theyd be home 1-3am and could still go to work the next day.

If they have them @ 6pm est, some people may not want to miss the first few levels, thus they take time off anyways the same day. Now if they play 3-4 hours and bust, now they get home 11-2am with nothing. If they win, its now 6-7am and theyd need the day off anyways.

I think its much more beneficial to start earlier, allow people to prep and plan, and worst case scenario they are having the entire day off.

Its better than scheduling the next day off, and not needing it, and to come in. Or to not schedule it off thinking you wont run deep, and then do.

So you want the tournaments to end at Midnight EST. So that is ending at 9pm PST lol.

Don't forget this is a Las Vegas series. WSOP runs at the Rio. People in EST are lucky to be playing it from their homes or traveling to NJ.

There is always the Friday and Saturday tournaments where people wouldn't have to worry about work the next day.

Right but if you want to maximize profits , you want more players.

Why is ending at 9pm pst “lol”

Oh no the horror, you didn’t stay up till 3am... even if it went to 11, there’s no reason it should be ending close to 7am est.

They should be starting 3 hours earlier, period.

starting at 11am EST is obviously about as stupid as starting at 6pm EST

I get 3 PST/ 6 EST b/c they want late reg to extend to 6 or 6:30pm PST so people can get home from work, fine, fine. Could still axe a couple early levels though and should definitely add more levels late and have day 2s.

But starting at 3/6 on weekends is just idiotic and makes zero sense and clearly costs them money.

Also, as long as we're griping I got booted off mid hand 2 hours in to my session tonight for having some kind of teamviewing software. Freaked out, took about 10 minutes to suss it out while I was sitting out, figure it's Citrix which I used for work, so delete that and resume playing. Another hour later, same issue. No idea what's going on, and of course the software can't actually tell me what I have that's causing the issue.

Eventually I figure out that it was the Zoom call that I was on (I think???)

How is it obviously as stupid?
People that had vacations planned to WSOP would have been playing that early anyways... and would have been using vacation time.

This is no different. Should still start when they did in Vegas. And now you DO have to consider you’re going to have less people total, so why not work with the east coast players?

I think 12pm pst would be ideal.

Most of their player pool is in Nevada, so you want to cater to Nevada as much as possible while still making it possible for NJ to play.

You also want people to be able to work 9 to 5 and still play. If they started it at 8/11, literally everybody who works a real job on both coasts would be unable to play, which is obviously not a good choice for them. In the current format, most people who work 9 to 5 in Nevada can still play, and 9 to 5ers in NJ *Can* play but probably won't bc they would have to stay up late.

People taking vacations to play or who have flexible work schedules can mostly make it work and so you don't need to go too far out of your way to cater to them.

12 PST is also not feasible bc 9 to 5 ers in Nevada can't play.

The most obvious and by far best solution is to start at 3 or 4 PST but to have Day 2s.

If you can't do that, you'd start at 3 PST but remove the first couple of levels to shorten the day. Or, you could add levels late, so that the tournament still takes as long, but way fewer people are staying up super late on the east coast (i.e. you're only up late if you are at the FT).

Furthermore, maintaining this stucture on Saturday and Sunday when very few people are working 9 to 5 is just insane.

Should still delete the first stupid levels, add a bunch of levels late, make it like a 14 hour tourney, but start it at 11 or noon instead of 3

Phil Hellmuth playing that classic short stack. With like 5.5 bb's he folds like 20 hands in a row. He takes the BB with 3bb's and calls the raise with K9 vs A6 and gets there. lol

Dnegs at the table.

He is out a couple hands latter 77 vs 99.

"Deepstack" event #2 chip average is about 20 bigs with roughly 100 players left. Yikes.

I guess they have to balance that with making them 2 day events. Yea, some of the micro stakes tournaments on there are better structured than these bracelet events.

Huge flip just happened for Somerville to take the chip lead. 78 bigs pot.

He raised 99 and guy to his left, who has him covered, 3 bet AQ. Haterade jams and a call.

24 players remaining.
