Was listening to the newest poker road episode today and he said that he once was a prop for Absolute Poker (25:40 in). Does anyone know if they still use props today? I know that its policy in a lot of casinos that prop players have to reveal themselves if they are asked that they are a prop player... I wonder if Absolute uses prop players and if the same policy applies.... doubtful.

A lot of sites use props and online its much different, they not only do not reveal themselves but its against the rules to do so.

There is no reason for them to do so either. Just think of it as a glorified rakeback deal where the props get 80-125% instead of 27-33% offered at most sites. In exchange they have to play short handed, don't get best game selection etc.

I won't name site names but even the Biggest sites use props to some extent of another. Even some very experienced long term online props would be surprised to learn about some of the positions out there, as there much more tight lipped then others.

Someone has to start the tables, right? If sites wait for there regular players to do so while meanwhile there is large wait lists on all the running games at that stake, they're giving up a lot of profit.

The fact of if a site uses props or not doesn't effect the players any, and it can be pretty much assumed that all sites use them in one form or another - with only a few limited exceptions these days.

I propped at Poo Mountain for awhile but, got bored of playing shorthanded against the same 3 or 4 guys everyday.

I know for a fact AP still has prop players. No, I'm not one.

AP does still have props. They don't really hide it either, just google for propping and you' ll find tons of offers. So many ****ty sites use props. Guess that makes AP....

I've propped at 3 different sites. As was mentioned before, it's usually just a ~100% rakeback deal as opposed to an hourly wage as in a live cardroom. Sometimes there's rules about not being able to play once a table gets full, or during certain times. I don't see why this would bother anyone. Online props are generally required to never reveal their prop deals publicly, but I'm sure some people break that rule.

1. the OP is thinking of "shills" who play on house money and should be required to reveal themselves. obv, this doesn't exactly happen anymore. (to my knowledge)

2. AP & a LOT of smaller online rooms use props. it's good for the site & good for the players, so it's definitely not a negative in any way IMO.

3. FTP has a billion glorified props. all the red pros are essentially props. however, they're even better than just props--they themselves will draw ppl to tables, not just the action. they do get paid rakeback, so it's essentially the same thing as a prop job.

How do you become a prop? I can't find anything that says Absolute Poker hires props. (I'm an idiot who plays on AP so I would like to have more information on becoming a prop at AP)
