But at the same time, the hands showcased in this series are not meant to be a teaching tool. In fact, the hero will be making mistakes so that he can learn from them later on and improve. I’ve had the most comments about the hand showcased in the pilot being a negative EV play and this was something from the concept stage I had planned. That the opening hand would not be technically correct, that it would be fundamentally unsound. I am looking 18+ episodes down the line where the main character can look back and see his mistakes and have a learning arc.
anyone confused as to why the main character is playing/speaking like a donk should read this carefully.

It starts off with the guy explaining how he has an edge and doesn't gamble, etc... Then in the next episode he's cold calling a 3bet with trash and has his whole bankroll on the table!? Seriously WTF?

All this does is reinforce the view that all poker players are delusional degens...

my favorite part is how the janitor dad who beats his grown ass son is worried about his son ruining his prestigious name by way of playing poker.

my second favorite would be how the bros at the home game are 100% cool with their friend dropping off some random sketchy, try-hard, beanie-wearing dude with a half deformed face who doesn't socialize with them.

lol

I thought it was ok, not sure if people like that actually exist (words they use, mannerisms etc)

sort of want to see what happens, so i suppose it is well written to some extent

Yah it's almost there I think it needs some work still. Good film/tv consists of "high stakes." Not in the sense of higher limits of poker but of an intensity that leaves you wanting more. I didn't exactly get that from the last episode. There needs to be a consistency of higher stakes and then the series will be able to prove its worth.

A) This is EXTREMELY well shot, camera wise. The music is dope. The plot is "meh" and the acting is....I wouldn't call it "terrible", I'd call it "green".

B) The scene when the dude gets beat by the dad (via lamp cord!) is funny, especially since he looks older than the dad lol

C) They say they live in America.....but they all have Canadian accents. Maybe the plot takes place in North Dakota? lol

These lines crack me up:

- "How did I put myself in this position?" (by calling raises OOP, with barely over 100BBs, with 42s lol)

- "You should bust a nut before you play, you'll feel relaxed. Doesn't Game Theory dictate this?"

I liked the line

"I'm going to bank with your checks"

this should be the one liner guide to uNL

Definitely room for improvement but do give credit for the effort. Are you spending a lot of $ on this or mostly just investing time? Regardless of reviews of the content, it seems pretty solidly done from a video standpoint although I am not in a special position to judge, but from a random eye it looks good. Good content is definitely the most important but I guess what defines that depends on your goal and target audience which I am getting the feeling is a bit undefined at the moment.....getting a station to throw up something? Pleasing the poker community? Independently getting it out there for profit to random viewers?

a lot of poker players are delusional degens =/

nobody, including the writer of the show, is arguing that the main character is at best mediocre with terrible brm skills at this point

I liked it..of course room for improvement, but I liked the storyline.
Also curious what the main character was playing online before b/f and how much $ he has stuck on ftp.

Would be a lot better if we had a reason to root for the main character ala Mike McD busting his whole roll on a sick beat and then turning to driving a truck on the graveyard shift.
Wrong. It was a cooler.

Curious if posters itt empathize with Walter White?
Of course. But perhaps less so in the last season when he becomes megalomaniacal.

He starts out as a frustrated chemist/ absurdly over-qualified teacher, feeling screwed by not reaping the success of Greymatter. He gets cancer and he starts cooking meth in order to leave his wife and children a secure financial future if/when he succumbs to his illness. After he meets Gus he has to fight for his life.

He's basically a good man who is put into a series of difficult situations and eventually decides that being the Kingpin is the only way to protect himself and his family.

I don't think it was terrible. I think it was an excellent attempt by amateurs, better than anyone in this thread would come up with, and in general, worth the effort by the folks who did it.

You get better at anything by repetition. Keep at it, and treat this like it's school, not like it's make-or-break on this one project. It wouldn't surprise me one bit for a thread in 5 years to pop up w/ something like "hey, do you guys realize that the director of [insert massive universally praised blockbuster here] is the guy who did that 'Game Theory' thing years ago?

I think this reflects reality better than seeing the guy take the original $400, deposit it on Lock, and play $.05/$.10 until he has $5,000, at which point he takes a shot at the 1/2 in a casino somewhere. I don't remember the producers saying anything about this project being a vehicle to forward the image of poker players...

What is sad is I used to watch that with my room mate back when we first started playing poker and I used to always say " Man, that was s*#@ luck, no way he wouldnt go bust in that hand "

Now I think about the hand, how it was played, his commentary ( to KGB at the table ) and yeah...LOL at that notion.

Its laughable. I am glad that I now understand that or who knows what "@%itty" bad beat stories I would be posting on 2p2.

While this is your opinion (how you interpret the art that is Breaking Bad) it's not correct. Maybe Walter White was a good man at some point, but that left him way before Season 5...

Any idea when E4 of Game Theory is set to come out?
