$40m is nearer the mark ($80m-$40m that comes with FTP)

$150m - $122m (phantom deposits) = $28m pay out to US players leaves $12 mirrion for the DoJ's costs in putting the deal together

I think people are making a little too much of this. GBT stated a long time ago in the first interview when it went public that they were the latest investor, that their plan was to have outside investors taking part in the deal. An outside investor coming in at this point doesn't have to be Guy, or anybody involved with poker, or anyone who previously knew anything about FTP or had any dealings previously. There are lots of people with capital to invest and all it takes is them being approached at the right time by the right person and there you go.

I am confused, the $80 million the DOJ pays US players is coming from Tapie group for the FTP assets so the DOJ do not get that $40 million to which you refer as that goes to the purchaser or in this case Tapie group as it is an asset of FTP. The DOJ only get to keep FTP assets if no deal concludes and thy go to court and seize them via a court order or victory.

$80 million is all they will have to pay out to cover the total US player money so those tht claim will get 100% of their money asthbe rest will not bother.

You apparently didn't read the article. The article said the outside investor was someone close to FTP.

IMO that means either Howard Lederer has backed his car up and opened the trunk or it's Guy Laliberte. Obv I can be wrong and it's somebody else altogether but Guy makes the most sense at this point.

Maybe Eli Elezra? I know he has a lot of money but I don't think he has anywhere near the kind of money needed to cover ROW player balances.

Didn't the DOJ state that none of the board members could own a piece of FTP2?
Edit: I think it rules out HL,CF,RB,RF

Yeah I was totally kidding. I thought it was rather obvious.

fwiw It wouldn't surprise me in the least to find out those guys have a bunch of cash stashed away somewhere. If they didn't and allowed it all to come to this they're far less intelligent than I gave them credit for being.

So I should have to pay for scumbags that phantom deposited? I hope I'm missing your point, but I doubt it. The other sentence is off too since the DoJ doesn't have that 40m from FTP atm and could easily never see it.

Needs Phil Hellmuth on a hotdog to get an A+ but nevertheless an oustanding piece of work. I'm a huge fan of the 'swapping jesuses' theme that oneonth3run so skilfully wove.

If it turns out to be true that image will go down in poker history.
