In the meantime, yes they were able to get other things done (Kentucky, Beckley/Rubin sentencing - I didn't realize the hard-on they had for Rubin) but at the end of the day, there was no 'new' milestone reached, the deal was done when Bitar got on that plane, but it was always going to have to wait until maintaining the assets would cost AFMLS money in order to be approved.

Hey TA, I know youve had some good insights on this.... is this just your guess or are you basing the 2nd part of your post on something legit?

I think it is funny that people are discussing who deserves credit for this. Here is my take, as there are two possible outcomes:

1) They are both correct. So what? Their reporting didn't affect the outcome, and we would have heard about it officially in several days time, which is a microscopic window when considering how long this fiasco has lasted.

2) They are both wrong. OBV, this is bad. After all, this is the most optimistic we have all been, so this would be the biggest letdown yet.

So outcome #1 has literally no consequence, but outcome #2 is a disaster, for us, and especially the reporters.

I lolled when I saw someone actually use the term "hero".

That's straight out of the Asset Forfeiture Policy manual, the deal was obviously done as GIQ and others reported and was supposed to be announced the first week of July, but since 'only in instances where the cost of maintaining assets...' it had to be put on ice until now.

I admit that DF was persuasive in insinuating that their was some '11th hour' development, but Occam's Razor insists that the simplest explanation is usually the correct one.
