Mods please move if this is the wrong forum for this. Anyone play online while in flight? I have a 3.5 hour flight tomorrow with American Airlines and I was reading that I should be able to get Gogo Inflight Internet for a reasonable price imo (http://www.gogoinflight.com/gogo/spl...execution=e2s1)

Anyone use it before? How reliable is it? Steady enough to play a session?

Thanks in advance.

I'm a noob so maybe I'm not an expert at using the search function. I didn't find anything about this topic. However, if a thread regarding this topic has already been created somewhere, please post link to it. Thanks again.

Not sure how safe it is. Logging on to private accounts via an open wi-fi network is never the best of ideas.

But if it's good enough for durrr.....

Still, it's one of the potential risks of playing on an open wi-fi network.

I think you'll find it was a power cord

For starters I believe your password is still encrypted. So, unless someone on the plan can break the encryption you're probably ok. Though if you're really worried about it shouldn't you get an RSA token anyway?

I've played before on a Virgin American flight. Works like a charm. I had no issues.

iv dcd maybe 5 times total where i didnt get back in time in about 40hrs of play on virginamerica. Took one flight on aa and it workd alright but seemed shakier and i think i dcd once (was only a 90min flight). ask a flight attendent when ur supposed to land, and quit once u get below 10-15,000ft or so b/c it turns off when ur landing.

I couldn't get my laptop to connect recently on a Virgin America flight. Was a bummer. What's the deal when I can sometimes only get "local only" connection vs. "local and internet." I tried googling a solution from my iphone (which connected to the wifi no problem during the same flight) but failed to find one.

When you fly American Airlines and play poker, do you get AA more often?

DO NOT PLAY ON AN OPEN WIFI NETWORK. Doing so is suicidal.

/freaks out at the idea of using wifi without at least 512 bit encryption

I have played on Delta flights a few times and had no problems. You might be able to get if for free if you have never used it before - I did.

This statement is ridiculous. Your poker traffic is safe, even over a public access point.

uhhh poker sites are encrypted and if you have a pin added to that you have nothing to worry about at all. GO FOR IT

Longtime since Ive used my laptop on a plane, do they have some sort of power source on there, or are you just relying on your battery life?

Still on a open wifi, i would not use any sites not secured with ssl that need credentials. Like forums or webmail.

If someone is scanning that network BOOM.

Gmail is encrypted... Anything "important" probably is encrypted.. such as online banking or web checkouts.

2+2 isnt encrypted tho.

Anyone who thinks however using a poker client over open wifi is dangerous is an idiot.. The encryption the poker software implements is stronger then WEP, which in fact has been cracked.. WPA is stronger, but my guess is the majority of people still don't even use it.

Also the odds someone on a flight is a "hacker" trying too steal peoples personal info seems incredibly tiny too me, its such a small number of connections.

so much misinformation. you can play w/ out worry on an open wifi network, FullTilt client uses SSL encryption.
