Btw, those stack sizes in that post were correct, so by my calculations he was only down 50k ish then,.

If one person stacks the other on the first hand, then the other guy buys back in full and then doubles up on the very next hand, then YOU come in and see the 60K vs 120K stacks, who would you think is winning and how much? You'd be wrong since you don't know which player added money or how much. In this example they're exactly even despite the lopsided stacksizes.
