I don't care much, but if losing $10M makes him busto then it wasn't close to begin with.

FTP equity > anything Cook did/can do.

You mean flopping on the ground and making a funny arm movement while shaking your ass isn't a punch line?

yes it really is debatable.

what most comic afficionados have decided is that carlin pryor are 1a/1b for eternity.

imo carlin is the comedic god, in your opinion pryor is.

Anyone else being mentioned as a possible contender is just heresy imo.

I think you're underestimating Lindgren then, he had a good year playing tournaments himself and was backing Bill Edler the whole time as well (along with many others, supposedly he's got a pretty deep stable). Not to mention he is rumored to have at least 1% of FTP which is an insane amount of money. Also we are talking about now and I think Dane Cook is slightly less popular now than in 2007 even though he has had a few movie roles that probably paid well last year.

What is with all the dane cook hate? I haven't heard any of his recent stuff (or seen any of his what I've heard described as "abortion of a movie") but I mean come on. The stuff that made him main stream was pretty funny.

This might be true..but it is all speculation. 2007 cook earned 9 mil. what about 05,06,08,[09]?

but fact is that both are wealthy at least...

r u kidding me; that's quintessential Cook (read: painfully unfunny). It's the first I saw of him like 7 yrs ago; I only wish it had been the last. He and Carlos Mencia headline my list of "comics" whose life-suck is so extraordinary that I think substantially less of anyone who admits to liking them --- and I acknowledge full-well that comedic preference is individual; to wit: I could happily sit through Mitch Hedburg or Steven Wright marathons, but I don't begrudge people who don't find them funny. Conversely, I don't find Jim Gaffigan all that great, but I can still hold someone who does in relatively high esteem. But anyone who has ever cracked more than a courteous smile at a Dane Cook or Carlos Mencia punchline will never, ever receive anything but scorn from me for their opinions on comedy.

Well said. I happen to think Jim Gaffigan > Steven Wright, but I can objectively evaluate the quality of SW's comedy. There is nothing intrinsically funny about Dane Cook's "comedy." You may laugh at someone getting hit in the nuts with a baseball, but it's not comedy. And someone getting hit in the nuts is 10x funnier than Dane Cook.

BTW, accounting for preference in comedy only goes so far, imo. For example, I don't see how people can find Robin Williams to be anything but annoying, even though he is a true comedian, while Dane Cook is not.

wait wait wait...

this grammar thing has to be some sort of multi level quadra uber level of some sort.

I'm still trying to make sense of the first guy who did it but spelled funny as "funy". That can't be legit.

Kinda wasnt serious and was just trolling for lame responses like "who is that in your avatar"....

But agree that Carlin and Pryor are in a league of their own.
