But he DID say he's not funny and his show sucks. Razzing the crowd is part of being a comedian. I have no opinion on Dane Cook, but this isn't the first time Erick has been the too-cool kid, and I can't imagine it will be the last. I like Erick in general, but this part of his personality is kinda grating.

I probably walk out of 25% of the movies I go to (mostly because they are filmed with that shaky style that makes me motion sick), certainly not trying to be cool but why would you waste your time when something is not entertaining?

I don't think that makes Erick a jerk. In my case I am indeed being a jerk, I am thinking to myself "self-time = X, so this is stealing X from me=leave".

Saw Dane Cook at Caesars Palace last memorial day weekend during the WSOP.
I noticed gavin smith and a couple others a few rows in front of me.
Someone should ask him what he thought of the "event".

Truth be told it was being taped for some comedy special
and the only reason I didn't walk out before I did is because I fell asleep.
Another product of good marketing and media support.
Horrible.

when I was in highschool I thought Dane Cook was hilarious, now I think he's horrendous, his routines are really just stuff that highscool age kids think is edgy, racy, and humorous

I maybe would have called Lindgren out if he had just stood up and yelled something unprovoked but he was just walking out and Cook started it (according to this report) and opened himself up to a verbal chopslap.

I believe the report because Cook had a completely unfunny attempt at a 'zinger'. That is completely believable.

BTW: I HAAAAATE Dane Cook. I used to do stand up and anyone who steals material is instantly on my "want to punch in the head" list. Plus, I know a lot of comics with 100 times more talent than Cook who probably will never make it as far as him just because they don't have his looks.

I love Bill Hick's stuff, but his misanthropic viewpoint, while funny and often cutting, is hardly an ethos I would hang my hat on. He railed against commercialism, yet had more than one TV comedy in the works when he got sick. He was famous for not caring about what others thought of him, yet spoke as if his opinion of them was paramount.

That said, Dane gets respect from comedians for how he marketed/branded himself to sell such large cd #'s and tour arenas.

OK is there supposedly an abundance of excellent jewish stand-up comedians then? I love a good stand-up performance but I'm not in the scene I guess and don't really know many big names. Seinfeld obviously comes to mind... does Larry David do much stand-up?

Just watched some Russell Peters' clips on youtube. He's hilarious. Not white gentile nor jew though.

while not a huge dane cook fan, it's amazing to me how quickly everyone has jumped on the hating dane cook bandwagon. it is EXTREMELY unpopular to say you think he's funny all of a sudden.
