No idea, was hoping someone had more info. I don't even like entraction, but found it very weird that they would ban countries that command such a big share of the playerpool on most sites.

It is interesting (and questionable IMHO) that they include Canada in this list. The other listed countries, however, all have pretty clear laws against online poker.

IGT bought the network while ago and they obviously dream of entering the US market once it is legalized. Thus they are trying to make everything very "clean".

This sucks. I play exclusively on Entraction now and this is gonna result in a tougher player pool for sure.

Norway has a law similar to the uigea, where banks are not allowed to handle money from online gambling, but its not illegal to play online poker as far as I know.

I haven't heard anything about the legal status of online poker in Canada in the last 2 years I've played.

A couple provinces have their own online casino sites that include poker (playnow.com for BC), but there's nothing shady or illegal about playing on other online poker sites in Canada AFAIK... Gambling winnings aren't even taxed.

Very weird then.. especially as I was seeing more and more canadians on the euro sites... Russia also a market with huge potential- obviously a regulatory issue

Playing online poker in Canada is not illegal. As far as I know, there are no issues concerning the transfer of money (for the banks) related to online poker, but some companies (i.e. TD Visa) will refuse to complete the transfers.

Quebec also has a poker site, and Ontario (OLG) is developing a poker site (but they are going to **** players (14% rake, and attempt to pass legislation to prevent ontarioans from playing on any poker site besides the OLG site) so I hope it fails before it begins)).

This is the first I've heard of Canadian players being banned from any poker site, and I have no idea why they would.
