Just from reading all the threads its tough to tell if people are leveling or really think he couldn't beat 10/20 and above online? If people think he can't do that why would they think he is a great player. OBviously there is a big difference between live and online but personally i think its ridiculous for someone to actually believe DN isn't a phenomenal player. DN is one of the all time leading money winners in tournaments, and is highly respected player by his peers who are the best players in the world like Ivey, Barry G, PA, Durrr ect ect.

When you say a lot what does that mean are you saying there are like 200 poker pros better than? More? Less?

He may or may not be the best player but he for sure has more threads about him on 2+2 hands down.

There's hundreds of guys that are better than him that don't get the celebrity and endorsements he does.

tbh not many are better then daniel negreanu. ivey, hellmuth, perhaps jamie and peter, oh and johnny ****ing chan

So basically all of 2p2 is just jealous that its not them on TV because they can all 5bet bluff to perfection while Daniel is a huge fish cause all he does is just call.

I can't stand when people are trying to make a reasoned point and then misspell things like etc. Maybe I'm just ornery tonight but I'd like to make this point: it is not "ect". It is ETC., short for et cetera, an ancient Latin phrase meaning "and so on", literally "and the rest". Latin being, of course, a major building block of that language we know and love and bastardize today, English. Please let's try to get this etc. thing right. We're all intelligent people here. Jeez. God knows almighty. I've held that back for a while now. Whew. *weak lol*

Anyway, I think DN is a great guy and interesting player to watch. He is also quite good, especially when he trusts his instincts and doesn't second-guess himself. I love the guy.

2+2 hates on everyone except a handful of people. Pros shouldn't take it personally because it's mostly just envious people that feel better when they see other people being teared down.

Daniel Negreanu isn't the kind of person most of the younger 2+2ers aspire to be. It has nothing to do with his poker skills (which are killer, imo.)

Define "good player"

Is a good player defined by what level of poker he can beat? If thats the case, I'm sure there are many players out there who could beat a higher level than what they play. There are players who would lose at a lower level than the level they usually win at.

How do you compare live/online? DN is a player that has based his ability around reading of other opponents through body laungage and 'tells' (sounds hollywood I know but its the truth), so effectively mutli tabling 10/20 online creates a disadvantage to DN. He is effectively playing without the ability to use everything in his arsenal

But I think the best way to know if somebody is a good player is if they profit from playing poker. Does DN profit from poker? Against all the businessman fish that want to play in Bobbys room, or all the shot takers or the big TV cash games? Who knows, ask his accountant

He is getting better as he realizes his live-pro mentality, although +ev, isn't the most +ev way to play. He made tons when poker was easy so his confidence in that style was unrelenting. Now the games are harder and he realizes "us" kids are better then him.

But since he has started putting in volume online, combined with his noted ability to read players, he's going to put some great results this year.

I'm sure some where there are a bunch of live tournament players who all think nanonoko isn't as good at poker as they are because he hasn't taken down a major MMT yet.
