Phil Ivey Reportedly Settles With Borgata, Ending 6-Year Legal War

NJ Online Gambling reported Wednesday morning that Ivey and Borgata had reached a settlement, citing a July 2 filing in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Per usual in these cases, terms were not disclosed.

I've never seen Phil Ivey be anywhere near this open before (regardless of the Poker Kings promoting)

Thats the first thing i thought as well. He was way more personable than any other interview I'd ever seen.

Realistically, the early Moneymaker/WPT boom sold the public a fairy tale that the established pros were these godly unbeatable titans with borderline superpowers on the felt. The online poker sponsorship money kept a lot of those early stars flush with cash, but once that ship sailed, it seems like a lot of those guys burned through their money and discovered their own mortality.

I don't think I need to name names, but you can pretty much pick any minted TV star from the early days of the WPT/WSOP boom and he won't be crushing in 2020. Actually, Ivey seems to be one of the few from that era who would still be very live money in the biggest stakes.

He seems to be good friends with Barry, that probably helped in him "letting his guard down". That and him seeing life through different lenses, which happens when you have some success doing mental work
