That isn't an ICM application though. That is just someone deciding not to play a high variance style of poker well outside of the money. When you're that far out of the money, your stated chip values aren't materially different from ICM values, if at all.
This reminds of several years back when ICM was the buzzword of the day, much like "GTO" is today. PokerNews was interviewing someone after Day 1 of the WSOP Main Event, and the player said something like: "I actually folded QQ to a 3bet on Day 1 today, because, well, you know, "ICM".
I still LOL everytime I remember that one!
