I may be idiot for posting this pole, however I want see if my logic is flawed.

Does this statement make sense?

Without wading through the interwebarugument in the Barry Shulman thread, the statement doesn't really make sense, no. Really depends on how you define "ripping off".

When ever you buy something you gain "good value", so its pretty implicit that when ever you give money for something the value gained is greater then the money given.

It can be argued that you can be ripped off whilst being given a "+EV" decision, eg god gives your brother 1 million$ and tells him to share it with you, he gives you 1$ in this case I think its reasonable to say you got ripped off.

Is this a level? The poll question contradicts the question in the OP. Yes and no, respectively.

Well I'm an idiot...what can you expect.

EDIT:

Always wondered where the statement "you can make stats prove anything you want" came from.

Mark Twain: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."
Or for the Non-Americans you can say Sir Charles Dilke when he was quoted to say, "There are three degrees of untruth,--a fib, a lie, and statistics." The latter is historically quoted first in literature.

Exactly. So the answer is no, it's not contradictory. Elaborate please exactly how you are being ripped off?

Here's a better comparison (iirc wsopME is 10k+ 300juice): Live tournaments that are not 1k+ are usually raked at 20% (Especially at the $50-200 levels), however, live players are terrible and it's worth it to you to play the tournament because you're so much better than the field. However, you're still getting ripped off by the establishment because they are charging 20% and you're getting 0% in return FROM THEM.

Yeah, on its surface its contradictory.

My guess is that you can have such a big edge against the field in the WSOP that you can still have "good value" even while being raped and "ripped off" by ridiculous fees.
