+1 to this. "Gay bet" might be common usage in the games Catman plays in (or more likely rails) but don't think every English player comes out with stuff like this.

That's not really the issue anyway. If OP has correctly reported the context in which Catman said "****ing lesbian" then this would result in immediate dismissal from any credible broadcasting organistion. With justification in my opinion. Find someone who can comment on the game without insulting people who aren't even playing that they have a private feud with.

Yet another douche-off as far as I'm concerned.

"Gaybet" is marginally offensive for the reasons that have already been explained. I used to say it, and try not to any more.

From there, it just escalated ridiculously. Both sides fail.

Edit: My apologies to any douches I may have offended with this post.

On the commentary yesterday, Catman said he apologized to Vanessa for whatever his comments were last year. Maybe he'll have to "apologize" once again.
11-13-2011 , 01:51 PM
To clarify- What I said about Vanessa having a chip on her shoulder was meant as being a woman in a predominantly male sport. Nothing to do with her sexual preference. I also said she probably didn't like the guy and used the incident as an excuse to abuse him a little.

Now exactly why this offended our resident crusader into a personal attack on me I really don't understand, but that person needs to be confined in an asylum somewhere.

how is the word lesbian out of line or inappropriate

I obviously thought that you ment that it was absurd of her to get angry at his blatantly way out of line comment on her sexuality and that you were defending his sexist use of the word gay and him stating that she was "A ****ing lesbian". Which you clearly were.

Any1 with a sense of decency would call out your ****, and his ****. If i was her i would definitely be seeking for him to be fired, or threatening a lawsuit, or both.

Its not that he made the comments, it was his tone and overall demeanor about both of them and him defending his actions until people called him out on his blatant homophobia and sexism.

This thread is like the worst possible mingling of politards and an anti-TWSS thread.

I find it pretty disturbing that so many are using it as an excuse to make marginally funny "gay jokes", particularly when the entire point of the thread was how someone was so out of line for calling a female professional player a "****ing lesbian".

Why in the world people continue to use sexual orientation as a means to attempt to belittle and shame others is beyond me.

In any event, pull this thread back onto some semblance of a track or locking will be the only logical conclusion.

my 2 cents

men and women are not equal and have never been.
to clarify: we're equal in rights, just not in body and mind. how is this not obvious?
furthermore i always wonder why women feel the need to be equal to men. What makes them want to be equal?

edit: ill probably get flamed for this, but im just wondering.

Because so many men use the fact that they are "better" physically (bigger, stronger, faster) to attempt to say that they are also better mentally (while men tend to be better at some mental tasks, women are also better at some mental tasks, and in terms of raw intelligence there's no evidence that either gender is superior) and that women are inherently inferior, and therefore not deserving of equal rights.

I have no desire to be "equal" to men in all respects, nor do I think that's even possible. But if you think that there still aren't men who are telling women that they are dumber and weaker and worth less than men, you're sadly mistaken.

By the same token, telling LGBT people that they aren't normal or moral, or using gay slurs to belittle others or to make jokes about weakness, is inherently derogatory.

It's got nothing to do with political correctness and everything to do with common sense and common politeness. No one deserves to be denigrated for being who they are.

overall i definitely agree with your post. unfortunately there's still an unbelievably high amount of men (AND women!!!) that believe that men > women. Especially in islamic 3rd world countries and the middle-east.

sidenote: i obviously don't think men > women, just saying that when it comes to physical strength men are "better" than women.

This almost makes too much sense to be a 2+2 post and makes me glad there are still some clear-thinking people out there.

Sums it up perfectly.

But apparently it's OK for them to come in this thread and call people morons and ******s?

I just got back from a trip, and rather than deleting 1/2 the thread, decided to delete none of it and attempt to pull it back on track.

Moving forward (if this thread actually goes forward), standard NVG rules of conduct apply. No more gay jokes, and no attacking of posters (rather than attacking of posts).

2+2=3+1, just because men and women have different strengths does not mean they are not equal. There are tons of examples which show women outperforming men in physical/mental activities.

They may feel the need to be looked at as equals because society has treated them like they are not for a long time, but as far as I'm concerned they are our equals.

On topic though gay bet is derogatory where I'm from so England get your **** together. And fire this announcer tool box.
