Somehow the action did resume and Duhamel was triumphant. as he held up his bracelet, someone from his rail called "Jonathan, don't lose this one too." Duhamel put it well in the post-victory interview, saying that the bracelet meant very little, in light of what happened.

Is this not the most negative Rio wsop to date? What more could happen this year? Very sad for what happened and the energy was gone from the event immediately. The man went out enjoying some fun poker spectating at a nice old age so hopefully he lived a full happy life and has a loving family to carry on for his honor. Too bad for all the witnesses and lifetime props to those who sprung to action for this gentleman. RIP.

Although he didn't win it, props to Bill Klein. This guy hung in there and competed with the best at a pretty high level, for two days. Obviously he was doing some non-standard things, but to battle against the best players and come in second is pretty amazing.

Also, he is planning on donating all of his second place money to charity. Amongst all of the things that have been coming to light in the poker industry of late, I really hope this gains some much deserved attention.

Kinda interesting Duhamel won and Racener and Cheong both cashed too.

Pretty solid crop of players went deep that year.

Wow, that's crazy! I came back and the stream was all weird so I just stopped watching. Turns out someone had a heart attack. Unreal.

Wish Klein took it down HU, but grats to Duhamel.

Bill Klein winning would actually have been very good for poker. First he is donating it all to charity which is insanely good PR for poker players as a whole (even though there are many rotten apples), he is also an amateur and it would inspire others to start playing.

Before the paramedics came, Liv Boree was active in trying to direct the in-house responders in how to position the elderly man so that he could breathe. His son in his 50s was there trying to help and a doctor was apparently found from among the patrons in the RIO. They administered electroshocks twice with defibrillator and there were some deep breaths after each shock but no real movement. He seemed to have sustained serious head injuries. As the Las Vegas emergency responders brought the backboard into the stands there seemed to be no pulse. The dealer was praying at the table, as were many in the stands. And many are still hoping that this poker fan can somehow find the will to survive.
He died, doing something he loved. RIP

holy stopped watching right before and then seen an update play was stopped due to medical emergency, were the players even asked if they want to play it out and finish or come back tomorrow? i mean a man just died right there and you are expected to be able to focus right back on trying to win a $111,111 poker tournament.

Solid tournament strategy. He's nowhere near as big a not as he looks though. Actually, if Hellmuth had been more of a nit at the FT he probably would have won. That said, why would a players amount of nitishness or lack of it be an issue? Surely it's how well they play and how well they run.....

I wondered what they kept hinting at, very sad news.

Gutted Bill Klein didn't win, seems like a great guy, but the better player definitely won. If anyone missed it, not only does he donate all his winnings to charity, if he doesn't cash he pays the buy-in to charity anyway. Poker, well, the world, needs more folk like him.
