Don't sweat it man. You actually seem genuine to me, although clearly volatile. As a fellow drug abuser I understand completely.

Keep posting imo. You seem to have a lot to add to this. Don't let people's needling drive you off, they don't mean anything by it.

As the North Carolina State Director it has come to my attention that there are significant concerns with the legitimacy of this “charity poker tour.” Given to the controversy surrounding this poker tour the PPA believes this event does not warrant our promotion. Furthermore, based on the concerns raised I am contacting the North Carolina Better Business Bureau as well as the Secretary of State’s office to follow up on the situation.

Should you want to learn more about the issues concerning this poker tour please visit this thread on the 2+2 forum.

I apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused and am working with the PPA National Office in re-evaluating the charity poker promotion vetting process.

Proud to play,

North Carolina State Director
Evan,

Were you able to follow up with the NC Secretary of State's Office? Did they give any update?

My understanding is that AMF has pulled out. The event website also does not currently list a location for the event.

(Even though I have already answered it in my original statement of the facts) I WAS bought in to the events by UCARE. To my knowledge, all pro's are. Part of the whole reason for us playing is because it gives the avg attendee an opportunity to play with and often learn from pro calibur players. (Not so sure if I qualify for this category...but I digress)
As part of my contribution to the charity, again...as stated in my original post, I offer Bustout gift certificates to our website as bounties for knocking out one of the pro's. In Durham for instance I put a bounty on myself, Jennecide, and one other pro (who I won't mention so as not to drag his name into this thread unneccessarily) I have done this for every event. So no, it's absolutely NOT a conflict of interest as it is very much part of the attraction for many to participate and very much transparent to all who do. My personal thinking is that it is not right for Jack to play in his own events however. Having been a part of the whole process three times now, I can see many reasons why this is a bad idea beyond just the obvious.
Jeff,

I busted out a pro in Charlotte this fall and my name, email address, etc were taken down but I never received any information or gift certificate...

Just got this email.

"The Charity Poker Tour has had to change venue for this weekends tourney due to the continued bombardment and relentless attacks on us by 2+2ers. The event will now take place at 2000 Hyde Park Drive, Indian Trail, NC 28079. It is located in the Enclaves clubhouse on the corner of Stevens Mill Rd and Hyde Park Drive near 485. We apologize for this change.

January 27-29th we will have 4 tournaments over 3 days with the Main Event giving away two seats to the 2012 WSOP and more as well as plenty of WSOP Circuit event seats to winners throughout the weekend. The Main Event is only $70 online and the entire weekend is only $150 for all 3 tournaments. We will also be doing 3 table sit and go's at 10pm Friday and Saturday night and another at 3pm on Saturday evening for a chance to win a $100 Visa Gift Card.

In the past, United Cancer Alliance, our own 501c3 has helped hundreds of people with cancer by sending them grants to help with groceries, electric, gas, and other everyday necessities that they would not otherwise be able to afford due to this terrible disease. Due to the 2+2er's we are changing our platform and will send all money to other local charities in each city that we play in and we will show the total $$ amount brought in and distributed to the penny after each event on our website. The Charity Poker Tour has always been willing to show complete transparency and wants to show all players and the local community that we can and do make a difference in the lives of others through poker, a game that we all love!!

During Sunday's event we will be presenting money to Cindy's Hope Chest, a local Charlotte 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to fighting breast cancer and proceeds will also go to the Sandbox, another local 501c3 organization that helps with cancer. Last year the Sandbox helped hundreds of teens in the area with cancer have a prom that they otherwise would not have been able to participate in.

We truly appreciate each of your support and promise that 2012 will be a great year for the Charity Poker Tour and we will continue to do all we can to bring you top pros, great action, and the possibilities to win big at the WSOP, all while helping great organizations do great things for those that need it the most!

Like all of our events in the past, this one is sure to be big, so sign up now, space is limited!!
Sign up now at www.ucarecharitypokertour.com and we will see you at the felt and hopefully at the WSOP!!

P.S. - The following hotels are near the area and offer the following room rates.
Comfort Inn, 9701 E. Independence Blvd, Matthews NC - $69.00
Sleep Inn, 9900 Matthews Park Drive, Matthews NC - $69.00
Country Inn and Suites, 2001 Mt. Harmony Chruch Rd, Matthews NC - $75.00"

So in other words I had to shut down my own 501c3 organization because it didn't stand up to any scrutiny and now I have to drop the names of other organizations, just like when I claimed to be associated with the American Cancer Society to continue my scam.

Come on man, he's been super transparent the whole time. Well except for when the BBB asked for info, and that pesky reporter, and all those *******s on 2+2 - but other than that, super duper 100% transparent.

Even if they were 100% legit, I don't like a charity that gives to another charity. It just means double the expenses and that much less going to the cause.

Have not been able to find either of those charities on Guidestar or any other charity reporting site. They both do have websites and Facebook pages.
http://whatsinyoursandbox.org/about-us
http://cindyshopechest.org/
A local should contact them and see if they are aware that a poker tournament is being held for their benefit. There is no mention of it on either of their websites or Facebook pages.

Some quick thoughts… Just because it’s now being called UCareCharityPokerTour doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a different organization than the original organization. I would ask that question. Regardless, I’d respond to the e-mail by asking for:

- Documentation of its 501(c)(3) status
- Form 990s (they’re required by law to give this to you on request)
- A list of Board members, officers, and staff
- A list of contributions received and made (who, how much, when)
- % of proceeds that go to charity

Also, in the past they used to list charities on their web site who they said they supported. On the other hand, they said they only gave money to individuals. It didn't add up. I'd ask if they ever made donations to charities listed on the web site. I thought I remembered someone in the thread saying they contacted one of the charities, which said it had never received a contribution.

According to the NC Secretary of State site, both registered last year as non-profit corporations, but neither is registered to accept donations.

It could just be out of ignorance.

Since I thought spoof was usually used for reporting phishing attempts, I repeated that the charity was phony, but that their link to PayPal was genuine. The CS rep said that he understand, but that was their email for all security issues.

Email sent (with mention of poker tournaments included), but they haven't even acknowledged receipt of it yet. When I've forwarded phishing emails to them in the past, they've always responded within 30 minutes.

Couldn't the local Police Department be called in on this?

He's running a poker tournament that is illegal.
However, he's getting away with it by claiming it's for charity.
But it's been proven conclusively in this thread that he's a scammer.

So he's running an illegal poker tournament.
Call the local PD and have him shut down and hopefully busted.
