I don't have many posts here and I'm mostly a lurker but, dude you are annoying as hell lately. Kevmath can you terminate his "post new thread" button. First he whines about the final table being delayed, then he whines about knowing who is going to win before it airs. You seriously can't be this ******ed, I know you are a video poker master and all but please refrain from the constant whining.

thank you that is all...I spoke my mind

I remember playing with a guy in 2004 who was trying to avoid spoilers (like months after the event was over and while early stages were being broadcast).

should be v ez to avoid results(if intelligent) meaning, no 2+2 or chat in tables etc. dont talk to your idiot buddies who want to spoil it.

IF u live in vegas or wish to compulsively visit casinos etc then well(not intelligent, so fail) but if u just hang out in vegas etc, wear headphones(real headphones, u know the big ones! and if u see danger(poker players etc) avoid, or leave headphones on while they talk to u.

there, problem solved. will be a bit more of a chore for us euros, since the video will release with sometimes a long delay(several days, lazy uploaders!)

Chainsaw is pretty much Brandi Hawbaker reincarnated. He's a giant forum troll that most people can't stand, yet those who run 2+2 will keep around because it does bring annoying traffic to NVG. So unless chainsaw learns to fly soon, ya just have to grin and learn to live with it.

edit: hmmm got moved into this cluster....

If you live in Vegas, or even anywhere near a casino, it will be nearly impossible not to know who won the WSOP main event before it airs.

Is anyone doing anything special to avoid finding out who is the eventual winner the 24 hours prior to the telecast?

How is coverage going to improve? If ESPN films the final table to conclusion on the 7th, they have a known result and more time to edit it "properly" to provide a quality broadcast. Nothing is gained television wise by stopping the event when heads-up. ESPN has their 2+ hour window for broadcast on the 10th and that's it. It does suck the audience into a theatre for a second day, so maybe the concession people profit.

The integrity issues are potentially enormous.

First of all, there IS momentum in poker tournaments that runs in both directions. To be a player (especially an amateur) running hot and having to stop before say going heads-up against an established pro, who may or may not be leaking some oil at the moment is a BIG disadvantage. Yes, the reverse could be true and the break may allow an amateur to compose himself. I would think that a composed pro will have a bigger edge over a composed amateur.

In addition, the day off provides either of the two players the time to acquire information about the other before going heads-up. This is not an equal opportunity. The pros (especially the Vegas based ones) will have numerous contacts and observers/coaches watching the final table and the time to consult with them privately. The other players simply will not have an equivalent support network. I would not be surprised if someone could get access to the hole-card tapings of the final table from the previous day.

The point is that NO ONE should be able to gain an edge from outside sources during a final table. It's ridiculous now when a player consults with his "friends" on the rail.

This arrangement provides an advantage to the established pros, which is probably why it went through in the first place. Ivey and Shulman/Hellmuth have as good of a set-up as they can hope for.
+1 whats left of the integrity of the event should be preserved.

Re the extra day before heads-up, who ****in cares.

Switching the FT to November was the huge decision in the first place. They could take a day off after every knockout and it would still raise trivial issues compared to those raised by the initial decision.

Also LOL at strategy, prep, etc. anyway. Most of the prep of the two finalists will be trying to get some sleep and avoid diarrhea.

LOL

The WSOP ME winner is not news. You could avoid the spoiler by simply staying away from poker websites and poker people.

Not true. At least a few major news sites will report it.

This. ^^

Seriously, am I missing something from the OP's argument?

As for the expanded time to get in more heads-up play, that sounded like a response to criticism from last year, where some great heads-up play got trimmed down to a very small portion of the telecast.

I mean, I don't understand how one day between the final table and heads-up is any more or less a threat to the integrity of the game than stopping for the night during a multiday tournament. As pineapple said, the only thing the contestants will probably have time to do is sleep and avoid diarrhea.

I can see where a four-month stoppage in the tournament arguably may affect the tournament, but that's not the issue here.

I miss Australian football @ 3am

Now, with a show of hands, how many of you would be playing if not for ESPN?I would. But I played live for 15+ years b4 internetz poker. And low steaks live poker, as well as casino pkgs., have deteriorated.
I'm going to AC on Saturday on the bus. They used to give u cash rebates.
Now they give u free slot play. It's all become too corporate and cheapskate.

Now, again with a show of hands, how many of you made life changing money because of the fish who came to try and beat you because of the ESPN coverage. umm, no life-changinx bux, but I'm still playing.

I bet the ones that still want to complain about Harrahs and ESPN haven't had their hands up yet. au contraire!

People who complain because Harrahs and ESPN are trying to get the most viewers and most advertising money and make the most profit so that Poker can be as main stream as possible and so that Harrah's and ESPN can suck Phil Hellmuth's genitals even harder and allow AP/UB to be promoted like they're beyond reproch, need to shove SabaAba into a gf. (I guess your next complaint will be how much you hate Google for trying to maximize profits for giving us the best search engine!)
The difference being that Google [and its competitors] bust their ass to make a level playing field for all their users.

When ESPN awakens from their long coma, and actually realizes that there are other games besides NLHE in the WSOP [they have gone so far down the cultural demographic as to have PH's face printed on cans of cheap rotgut beer, not to mention people having JackLink beef sticks hurled at them],
or do something to bypass the live coverage ban, like move it to Commerce
[where, afaik, live FT broadcast would NOT be illegal, besides, there's a helluva lot more tables than the Rio]...

then I might think we're headed in the right direction.
