Caesars used to have decent tournament series with good structures and then all of a sudden about 3 years ago everything changed. The tournaments were ruined with bad structures(skipped levels) and got progressively worse. Even their $1080 main after the WSOP had a crappy structure.

All in all the room was decent but haven't been impressed with their tournaments for years. Actually, at 1 time their dailys even had good structures(especially the 7pm) and the Saturday noon $340 I believe but then that was gotten rid of also.

One thing about the room is it was hard to find if you weren't making an effort to find it.

I went to the property to play slots a couple of times and didn't even realize the room was there.

do they still have that big open space once you go up the escalators, on way to diamond lounge? maybe put tables up there.

This. In one of the Poker Essay books there was a nice one about why a poker room needs a rail.

Several years ago my buddy and I went to Caesars to play drunk 1/2. I ordered 2 crown and Cokes from a Roman Empire era cocktail server. She said, "we don't serve crown here." I replied, "Then I don't play here." Cashed out never to return

Obviously Caesars does have it's negatives (from a tournament POV) ... old ugly chips, 10-handed, fast structure, high rake.

However the one reason I always chose to play tournaments there was because of the nice tournament area out the back but most importantly they always managed to get big numbers for their tournaments whether it be a $130 buy-in, $530 Main Event or the WSOP-C events.

When trying to chose a tournament to play, Caesars will always be third choice amongst rooms during the WSOP when weighing up field size and prizepool.

Agree with the above but I'd like to clarify some matters.

1) Have they announced this closing?

2)Are they going to another room?

Closer to home, I'm going there in a couple of weeks and had planned to play in one of the Saturday/Sunday events @ 2:00 PM.

Are they still going and what have been the numbers. Rather not pass up another tourney if I show up and have to play a 20 man tourney. I suppose that since this has gotten out the numbers will decrease in the future until closing or transfer of site.

Thanx in advance.

Meh. Don't care. I haven't played in that room in over 3 years.

I'll definitely miss it. If nothing else, for the memories. I played there every day for the first three months they were open. In 2006, they filled every table, hosted a "Big" mixed game on the top level, and treated the players better than any other room. This was prior Venetian room, Aria room, and BF, of course. Poker was booming, and they were poised to scale better than anyone else.

Bummer.

From a sheer physical/layout standpoint - Caesars was my favorite room in Vegas. But it's not surprising that they could find a more profitable use for that space - especially the tournament area.

Just want to let you all know that Caesars Palace poker room is definitely NOT closing. I have that from a very reliable source. Can't give any more details beyond that.

I work for All Vegas Poker and am the Las Vegas columnist for Ante Up Magazine.

I will never rag on a cocktail waitress for her looks or age. They are trying to making a living and we are sitting on our asses getting free drinks. Shut up already.

I will rag on them for having horrible, unfriendly, nasty attitudes, and the ones at Caesars have a well deserved reputation for this.

This. As long as they can still bring the drinks in a timely fashion, who cares what she looks like. How about a scantily clad man bring me a drink?

They are relocating and remodeling. The time frame for this is uncertain. In the meantime, they are still open in their current location.

Strangely, If they move to smaller site in the casino it may bring more into the room, not considering the high rake and such. They might look at Aria as to how they handle their tournaments during the WSOP but who knows what they'll do? Maybe even a rail...

Good to hear.

Timeline wise I believe they wouldn't/shouldn't do anything until after the WSOP-C and WSOP at least.

The turnaround time to do a remodel/renovation for Pure would probably take a substantial amount of time and most likely cause them to lose some of their gazillions in profit that they bank during the Summer period. So this gives some weight to a delay in relocating the poker room (most likely but who knows).

That room's location was terrible btw.. gamblers on Fri/Sat night generally stay AWAY from the loud & crowded area all around PURE. Plus they're wasting a ton of unused space in the poker room. Caesars Palace is huge, if they just relocate to a new location in an open area right by table games they'd get much more traffic.

not really. LO8 usually only accounts for a very small percentage of tables running. The orleans, like everywhere else, mostly spreads NLHE.

Most of the non-destination rooms are like any other poker market in the US -- pretty busy during peak times and pretty dead on off peak times.

The room's ability to keep all its tables filled all of the time is not a valid metric for its viability.

Right now on a Saturday night, the Orleans has 5 NLHE games, 14 fixed limit HE games, and 2 fixed limit Omaha games.

I never liked the Caesars poker room, bad location, extra rake, etc. Better off walking 5 mins to Bellagio or Venetian. It is also is not surprising that the club will be able to make 10x or 20x as much profit from the same sq. ft.

Games must truly be dying in Vegas for this to happen
